According to Lammy senior's more recent interviews this weekend, he believes that we have 7 new signings to announce for next season. This is interesting because it is a little more specific than DB's insightful but a little cryptic interview (nothing new there folks) which Cokey has previously highlighted on this thread.
Croft looks like he may be the expensive overseas signing that DB mentioned that we would all be hearing about this week - possibly just speculation at this stage rather than confirmation of the signing which seems to be planned for post end of this season - by which I can only assume is after the Grand Final.
If, if, if we are in for Croft then he certainly would be expensive because he will cost DB a pretty penny and more besides in order to buy him out of his lengthy contract at Salford. It would also represent a huge statement of where we are now at as a club. Historically, our neighbouring clubs have raided us for our best talent. To prise Croft away from Salford would be a huge indicator that now other team's crown jewels are not beyond us and are not outside our reach.
I rate Croft. I'll be chuffed if he is coming to Leigh. He would be exactly the kind of upgrade we need to improve the team for next season. There has been significant and, for my money, pretty heavy investment and impressive recruitment announced already by rival teams at the top end of the table and if this season's success is not to be a one off then we have to keep pace. Croft signing would very much achieve that.
