Matt, look at rugby over the years Maurice Lindsay certainly bought a team ,more than one , and look at Cas , Hull, Hull KR , even Wigan and Saints are turning to imports , not many are household names.Look at John Asiata 130 first grade NRL appearances, you do t play so many games if you are not good , and Aekins , McDonald ,and Amone have good first grade NRL , our new PNG signing scored a great try against GB and can shift a bit , Jy Hitchcock has a great scoring ratio, our latest signing Dixon is very fast and scores tries for fun , add to this some hungry youngsters , I’m very excited , and we haven’t finished singing yet , yeah some like to knock Derek , maybe they have personal issues with him , but I bet most others teams fans would have him .
Let’s wait till a few games in before worrying , I’m confident , and can’t wait .

If this squad doesn’t challenge for the top spot, I’ll eat my ow’d mons flat cap that dates back to at least the Hilton Park 60’s.
Fev will be a force and we will have a few bumps in the early weeks, but this squad and the quality we will get from Saints will be a match for anyone.
Saints have a very large and capable squad this year. They will need to keep them all match fit and engaged. I am sure we will benefit from that (James Bells please !)

VL, Saints have big squad and are never frightened to blood youngsters in their first team , this can only benefit us , I can see James Bell making a return to Leigh ,especially if things don’t work out for him , having said that , we have a chance early on with playing Fev away to beat them , and Dane Chisholm isn’t available for the first month , I’m forecasting we will be top of the League at the seasons end .

Happy with the squad so far and really looking forward to the first home game against Haven. Thank you Derek for enabling such a strong group of players and staff. It should be a great season. Competitive, but we have the strength to compete at the top.

It would be good to recruit a fast 16 stone centre, a big fast second rower and one more nasty middle.

Does anybody know the reason why Jayden Hatton who was announced as a new signing pre-Christmas, has now had his picture removed from the club website squad list for 2022, has not been announced as having been given a squad number and who is the only signing who does not appear in the squad to face St Helens?

Not sure. But if Leigh achieve SL next season many will be missing.

Chris Chester has gone on record several times that this is not the intention going forward. There will be some change of course but not like we have seen previously. This squad is, at its core, quality

That’s wonderful Van..Unfortunately you can’t carry so many quota spots in SL. I’m sure Chris Chester is aware of that. Then again things could change. Most of these players are in the shop window.

Do you accept that as a way forward?

This squad is designed to attain SL and then prevent another mass redesign. This is not my opinion, it is the clear statement of both Chris Chester and Adrian Lam
Some may be here “in the shop window” but should we attain SL, we are in the driving seat to retain players who want to play SL. It is after all our shop.
Quota spots will dictate some movement but again we have significant control of who fills those spots SL. And significant experience with/of the players we chose to retain.
Either Chris Chester and Adrian Lam are blowing smoke and have no idea what they are doing, or …….
I accept that as a way forward.
