As I said people had to be capable of playing with him, just like the conductor of an orchestra he/she is only as good as those playing the instruments.

If there have been problems recruiting players of the required standard it would be helpful if there was some communication from the club to explain this to fans. The excitement generated in fans by rumours of potential quality signings is part of sport.

Is the pool of players of sufficient ability to be competitive even smaller than it was in 2017?

If recruitment of players of sufficient quality has been a genuine problem, and this is in some way COVID related, then it would be fair to cancel relegation this season.

We have a squad of non first 17 SL players in the main, players who want a wage due to age but can’t get a decent one in SL as an ageing squad player. If we are told early enough that we will be in SL 2022 then I expect at least 12 better players than we have in the squad to compete for mid table

When we were the Champions in 1981, 11 regular first teamers were from the local area! Having said that, you have to build to get to that level.
