| Quote: CHEADLE LEYTHER "After the signing of Sammut, this means we have Woods, Ridyard, Reynolds and Sammut for the half back positions. Are we overloaded in these positions or will Riddy now revert to Loose forward? Like other people have pointed out is there enough grunt in the forwards for our half backs to shine?'"
At last night's LISA meeting, apparently it was stated that there were 3/4 more signings to come. So that could still leave 2/3 - possibly forwards? Personally I rate Sammut, but was slightly surprised to see Josh re-signed. (on the basis that we had Sammut) I guess it gives us a chance to rotate haf backs and keep the 'older' ones fresh.
As for loose-forward, I reckon Addy is earmarked for that position.

| Back to the thread, which is the first choice half back partnership? Reynolds/Woods, Sammut/Woods or Sammut/Reynolds. Personally I would have Sammut/Ridyard, but it ain’t going to happen. Which also begs the question who is first choice goal kicker?

| Maybe a squad overloaded with halves is the way to go, as Broncos have followed suit ! Only difference being only 2 of the 5 have any real experience, the other 3 Academy boys. In fact with 5 halves, 3 hookers and 5 wing/fb in the 25, I struggle to understand the clubs thinking, especially after the colossal inevitable exits, with only 11 left from last year. Still we are favourites which shows what the bookies know.

On the face of it, your squad looks weaker. But then, I thought that, after the departures at the end of 2017, and look what you achieved in 2018! I for one, won't be writing you off!

Depth in squad is the answer. Recruiting in numbers creates instability. If the core remain then that can be added to as the season progresses. If you can fill the gaps to the business end your going well.
