| Unreal performance from 1-17 and for all you with misgivings the saints lads were amazing.. Luke Douglas put a good shift in and ashworth looked the best forward on the pitch by a long way. Awesome start for the season well done lads

Indeed Indeed.
Ridyard and Woods last season in that one game, instead of the 'dumb' half backs at Blackpool, and we would have been thrashing Wakefield last Sunday in SL, rather than Toulouse.
Anyway other than Woods and Ridyard. There were other outstanding performances v Toulouse. Luke Douglas played really well and put some big hits in but what about young Joe Cator? How old is this young man. 18/19? He really does look the part, and I am looking forward to seeing him progress this year.

My comments are an observation, opinion even. You, of course, are entitled to opine that they are a 'gripe'. I believe I said, in a later post, agreeing with another poster, that I don't think he should be 'pitch side'. For someone who said he would be taking a back seat, lower profile, whatever, he seems to be going about it in his own unique way. I repeat that it is my opinion that he shouldn't really be on the pitch, or in the 'restricted' area' beside it. (or any other owner, or club official, not directly responsible for the match day operation) Was there not trouble at Blackpool last season, when our owner was on the pitch?
I also posted that he would be entitled to question where the similar commitment to the cause was, last season - probably a 'gripe' on my part, about how the players let him/us down. Anyway, these are merely opinions. If, of course, we accept that yours is the right opinion, and mine is wrong, then we'll just have to agree to differ - if that's ok?
If Mr Beaumont wants to run the risk of a fine due to ignorance of the laws of the game, that's his prerogative. It doesn't involve us.
Then again, he still is the main shareholder of the Club and I believe must still be investing money in the Club in some form.
He may take a backseat in the running of the game, but at the end day he still owns the Club. Has he paid for his corporate box this season?

I welcome his investment, and did in previous seasons, and I do not doubt his commitment to the club and the sport. My concern (sounds much better than 'gripe') is about the reputation of the club. Having previously witnessed first hand, what a bad rep. does for our club, it is very difficult to regain the respect of the RFL, or other clubs, once they have been 'upset'. Whatever we think of the RFL, and we all probably feel that they do some 'odd' things, we upset them at our peril. At the end of the day, we need their support, and have to work with them.
As for the owner's corporate box, I expect he has paid for it many times over!

Image is everything! Quite correct Alan. So do we take this as being a bad image or a good one?
Do we turn this into a positive or a negative? If you choose negative then the word "gripe" becomes relevant..
