That was my initial thought too. However, despite everyone being supposed to vote for 'the greater good', I guess our owner (along with any others) has to do what he considers best for his club. Selfish, I know, but I can understand why he would vote that way, especially as he should be aware of all the facts and implications of the deal.

Oh I've seen that. As suggested elsewhere the Championship clubs' chairmen should maybe now push for a realistic (for all clubs) salary cap to negate the effect of that.

But if you negate the effect of that, how do you actually get to Super League?

I think its time the lower tiers go it alone. Far better RL down there. They just need to get their fingers out.

You will no longer have to beat SL sides to gain promotion so don't need to match their squads. Any side with £500k more central funding than the rest should (clearly Leigh have proved the exception to that) have a distinct advantage over the other 13 clubs. All that's likely to happen is SL will become a 12 + 1 closed shop with the same couple of clubs going up and down.

Absolutely. I would rather watch Hemel v Leigh than Saints v Wigan
