I like everyone else have enjoyed the ride in going to SL and making a fist of it.
With a better coach and a well managed club we should have stayed in SL but that is all now history as we look to just exist next year as without backers the club will struggle..
I'm not sure why the consortium that came in to buy the club and put it on a level footing fell apart and allowed the risk that Derek would become purely the person left holding the clubs fate on his decisions(which have been well intentioned) as once that happened we became a risk.

Not knocking Derek as he's sunk a fortune in but the club cannot ever be allowed to be run by one person as when he gets bored or can't afford to justify the outlay then its shake the collection cans to save Leigh time.

I'm hoping a Plan B is in the pipeline as otherwise this club has learned nothing after going bust in what seems like a rolling 8 year cycle.

Worrying times ahead.

Would be interesting to know what the financial position is. The club was around £1.9m in debt at the end of 2016 It will be interesting to see if DB he rights of his personal debt (£0.9m) and the £1m due to his company. Much smaller amounts that caused MK to call it a day at Salford.

If you remember Jenky, after Arthur Thomas we had the consortium of Derek, Andy Mazey and a few others. One by one they left to leave 1 sole in charge, remember the public spat between Derek and Andy. Derek wanted full control, rightly or wrongly. Now all gone pear shaped.

People were worried once that happened again after Arthur, lots said it was a bad idea. Now we know it was.

But you cant take away it was one hell of a ride.

It was a great attendance & I should add that I have had several very good & informative chats on the Bradford board when things were bleak at Odsal, however I hear it was also £5 a ticket & therefore would have generated about a 1/4 of the income a Leigh home game generates.

Further, you are right, Bradford have shown that at it's very worst they could fight back & deserve genuine credit for doing just that !

I believe *see think* we had a squad of 28 before Paterika Vai-Vai & Larne Patrick departed, that takes us to 26 ?
If our 8 best players leave then it would leave only 18 registered, I could be way off with loan signings etc ?

Anyone have clearer knowledge ?

Sorry but you are not 100% accurate with the £5 ticket claim. It was full price for most attending (York brought a decent amount over... 1k i'd say) but its true that there was some decent marketing to local schools too, which is how we built up the crowds back in the glory days (get them hooked young and bring mum and/or day too).

That aside, I don't wish anyone goes through what we've been through. Without knowing the facts of how much you actually owe, I'd hope that DB has caught it early enough to stop the rot but from what I'm told it will very much depend on DB's personal debt being written off.

Regardless of the outcome, in the trips over to LSV I've met some very good Leigh folk (and on this board too) and have every faith that Leigh will stay afloat and have its day again. You have too good a fan base to go down the drain.

I really enjoy both the banter & the game day experience with Bulls fans & a small consolation (if we are not relegated by Administration) is that we will enjoy these games again next year, that + it would be nice to see some away fans & a 7K + crowd or 9K at Odsal !

Glad you've finally got rid of that poundshop Koukash, he was a disgrace to your club and rugby league in general. Hopefully you manage to get some humility back and develop a proper club over the next couple of years instead of the overpriced journeyman the clown brought in to try and buy success at the expense of the game
