Quote: LeythIg "I thought it was quite a patchy performance. Excellent in some spells, but sloppy in others. Started slowly, and Mason seemed to struggle in his first spell, and Acton going off early didn't help. But from minutes 15-40, they couldn't live with us. Acton being back on and Hood coming on helped with that.
We then started the second half slowly and conceded early, albeit quite dubious as to whether he got it down. Then we took control again and got to 30-10, then played as if the match was over and a sloppy set with a rushed kick gave them field position to start their comeback. But yet again, we got through that and managed to regain control of the game which was impressive.
Acton, B Thompson, Hansen, Richards were all very good. Baldwinson looked solid. Will be a tough decision on who to pick if Bailey is fit for Blackpool'"
Its never an easy task to win at Fev and, it has been a grave yard for us on many occasions over the years!
The upcoming Cup Tie against Leeds, at Fev, has me thinking back to 1962 when we played Fev there in the CC 3rd round and after beating Leeds in RD 2, in a replay at Headingly, we were strongly fancied to go all the way to Wembley unfortunately, Fev, had other ideas and for many years after we struggled a Post Office Road
For those who weren't present on that day in 1962, there was a special Train laid on to Fev from Leigh Station and almost all the town seemed to be on it
Sadly we no longer have a Station
lets hope we get a better outcome against Leeds at P.O.R. as the return Train journey that day in 1962 was made by many bitterly disappointed Leythers!
Good report Phil, I'll look out for you on Saturday, you'll be the one in the Ball & Chain I presume
