Quote: Harold Rigby Jnr "Derek is as frustrated as us all. The problem is like us, he is not sure what the solution is.
The obvious one is to fire Cunningham but that was one of Derek's mistakes in the first place, a second mistake was then to give him a 3 year highly paid contract. The result being now, any movement to now get rid of him will cost Derek a lot of money paying up, on top of the lot of money he is already pumping into the shambles each month. More expense, that is now only justified if top 4 was 100% guaranteed.
One thing is for sure. I guarantee Derek is back in charge of any future player recruitment.'"
I expect to see Cunningham become the most expensive programme seller the world has ever seen.
Unfortunately, there is no solution. 5 losses out of 6 means irreparable damage has been done to our hopes of promotion and even top 4. DB has to now sort budgets out for next season, based on next to no central funding and get a coach in that can avoid relegation this season! If that means transition back to part time next season then so be it, but more emphasis will need to be put on the Tommy Sale Youth programme to make sure that reserves / academy structures stay in place. Imo, the first bad decision that led to this was scrapping the reserves in 2016. We completely underestimated the number of players we would need contracted at the club to give ourselves a chance in SL.
