Quote scrum="scrum"Yes Sky own the rights and its Sky who have given permission for Premier to show Toronto matches excepting the Summer Bash and Middle 8's.
The home and away scenario is not of Toronto's making the owners of the ground dictate when to carry out work and they have chosen the date just the same as Wigan Council are closing our ground at the height of the rugby season.
They are playing at the Magic Weekend at the invitation of The Rugby League.'"
Interesting points Scrum.
I have not commented on the Home and away schedule of Toronto for those/these 2 exact reasons.
The ground reno’s benefit Toronto, but are being done by the City at their expense and also on their timescale, so hard for Toronto to raise much of a complaint Andrew really not their doing. I’m sure they are concerned at losing some of the momentum laid last season in growing their fanbase. (Also impossible for the City to do them earlier as the weather is arctic cold that side of the country.)
Secondly we also have a period of time in the season when we do not play home and away as usual due to ground pitch relaying. I’m not sure we gain an advantage from it but we could appear to from the perseption of others.
People in Vancouver have been playing rugby league now for a few years thanks to the efforts of some ex-pats and Aussies, but only now are people outside of that small few starting to ask questions and show interest. That is because of Toronto.
