First let me say I agree totally that the referee was in a poor position but unfortunately it doesn't seem to matter to the rfl.
Two cases, Hock at Salford chases a kick in goal collides with Thomasson who takes to social media makes a joke about his whistle being injured, Hock Six game ban. Carney at Huddersfield this season standing still Childs approaches him Carney puts his forearm out two game ban.
If you see the Gale one he runs to the referee and puts his hand on his shoulder to dispute a penalty charge = A the sport really needs to able to distinguish between deliberate and accidentall/poor positioning by officials.

Having now seen the match video on LCTV and replayed the incident 5 times, I can confirm exactly what I reported earlier.
What the hell is Gregg supposed to do - concede a try or make an attempt to diffuse the kick through.
The referee puts himself in a ridiculous position - directly in line with the direction of travel of the Salford kick through on the last.
Why has Gregg even been charged?
If he gets a suspension for that then our sport is making a complete idiot of itself.
I suggest that the RFL should do something useful and put in a concerted effort to raise the abysmal refereeing performances we are witnessing week in week out. The standards have never been as poor in the 40 years that I have been watching the game.
If we are to survive in SL we need a fair crack from both the officials and the Disciplinary process. At present neither aspect of our great game, in my humble opinion, is fit for purpose.
Rugby Union must be laughing at us and confirmimg their belief that we are just a bunch of amateurs playing at running a professional sport.

Totally agree PTB, some of the decisions from Jack Smith were baffling to say the least.Although he had no bearing on the result,his officiating is nothing short of dire.

Unless I missed it don't recall a single penalty for offside?

Matches revued on Monday of next week, how does everyone know he's being charged???

Having now seen this, Bongser thinks it would be ridiculous to use the EGP - it gives no chance for sense to prevail. Either way with the butcher's bill as high as it is and the panel only meeting in a week, Gregg MUST play both sets of Humbersiders.

2 match ban for Gregg. What an utter disgrace that decision is. Thank you for nothing Jack Smith. Next time please take up a better position on the field when you are refereeing. Thanks to the RFL Disciplinary for not using an ounce of common sense when coming to this conclusion.
I was there and it happened right in front of me. Smith should be both embarrassed and ashamed.
