Quote: John Gilbert Reds "My view is Ryan never asked for an additional £15k and simply decided to activate a clause in his contract which allowed him to leave the club if Paul Rowley ever did. Paul left the club because of the 'culture' that was beginning to evolve at the club, following the signings of certain players. Without the backing of his boss over how to eradicate this, he felt his position was untenable and left. Had the club been in great hands and all as well as it was last season, Ryan wouldn't have left, however he wants no part of the 2016 Leigh and I don't blame him.
Beaumont not only took a huge financial risk when he signed Chase, Hansen, Paterson, Maitua, Tonga etc but also an off-field risk. A lot of Leigh's current 17 were the reasons behind Salford's terrible off-field antics last season. If it pays off, great you've got Super League RL but so far you've lost a coach and your best player from 2015. Wonder boy Rangi is in rehab and nobody knows if/when he will be back.
Leigh deserve better, they came so close but in the end were so far from reaching Super League in 2016. Did they need such a huge overhaul? No.'"
You've hinted previously at this, presumably meaning the Salford lads. If Rowley was so opposed to them and thought they were bringing such a terrible 'culture' to the club I doubt he would have appointed Harrison Hansen and Cory Paterson as Vice Captains. Infact I seem to remember him singing the praises of the attitude and leadership qualities of those 2 players when the appointments were made which was not long before his departure.
I know you feel that they were an 'issue' at Salford but they seem to be settling in just fine here.
