A very difficult decision. We'd want someone as similar to Rowley as possible so if Jukes feels confident, A few times Paul stepped back for a week to give Jukes a go as head coach (I remember last year a few people thinking I was daft when I suggested after we'd got the top spot Paul should let Jukes have a go for those last 3/4 games in the space of 2 weeks to give him some experience). Ideally though if Jukes is in charge it'd be good to bring someone in as assistant to act as a mentor for him. Basil could be good as a mentor, he produced Rowley & Turzis the two best coaches I've ever seen at Leigh (since 1997); wouldn't want Basil as head coach, man management will be key this year and Basil isn't good at that, players either buy into what he's trying to do like at Leigh & Saints or don't like at w!g@n & Cas where it all went wrong, with some players we have it could all go badly wrong if they don't like the coach.
Don't really know enough about some of the SL reserve and academy coaches to have a proper opinion.
Now Rowley has gone Fax fans are right in thinking Marshall is the best coach in the Championship, would be good but with Fax getting a lot of money & not spending much of it I doubt they'll even let us speak to him. Always rated Morrison at Dewsbury, they've improved every year he's been in charge, been steadily building there just as Paul was here. Rowley always seemed to rate Paul Crarey up at Barrow, could be one to consider. Like John Kear at Batley but despite having a lot of success years ago now I think with his style he prefers to be the underdog, at Batley & Wakefield before that he always had teams in a relegation battle but you'd never go down with him in charge.
Don't want Brien Noble, he's been out of the game for far too long, said that when he went to Salford, finished coaching at Crusaders in 2010 had 1 year at Salford where he was out of his depth in 2014 then done nothing since. McNamara is too by the numbers, the players wanted to play Paul's free attacking style, McNamara at England was 70 min of 5 drives and a kick with 10 min in there somewhere doing just enough to win. Plus Hock & Rangi have said they'd never play for him again. Harris again all the ex-Salford players can't stand, plus he's not much good, did nothing at Salford, took Wales from being one of the best in Europe to their disastrous World Cup run. Webster's entire coaching career consists of being awful at Wakefield. I've also seen Karl Harrison mentioned
Difficult decisions for the board, wouldn't like to be them.
