Leigh underachieved badly at this level every season after 2005 until Ian Millward rejoined us. More experienced coaches have made a mess of squads that ranged from capable to good in that time.

In 2006 we even ran a full-time squad in the Championship. We were stinking awful under Tony Benson's stewardship that season.

Michael in 2006 we had a decent side , and a very good pack , we failed in the Play offs,it has been coomon knowledge Derek has said we are one year into his 2 year plan, he has backed his judgement with 4 Quality signings and good on him

I personally think next season we will do the business and achieve SL.

My point is that a lot of coaches have failed to deliver for us and Paul's achievements this last few seasons are better than most - they should not be taken for granted, lest we end up with a Darren Abram or Ned Kelly in charge.

Very interesting interview. Makes a good point about the £1million cap as it is doing nothing to keep The Championship competitive, simply holding back Championship teams in The Qualifiers. Hopefully the cap will be increased for those that can guarantee the money and increased for the whole season not just the Super 8s. The whole point of the Qualifier Super 8 as far as I understand is to allow promotion without requiring clubs to make a big financial gamble, if you're only allowing clubs to spend for The Qualifiers that encourages them to gamble spending on winning promotion, might as well just have straight promotion and let clubs gamble on staying up in SL (not that I think that's a good idea).

Any news on an experienced Head coming in to help Rowls for when it matters in the middle eights?

Yeah Freddie Head has agreed to come to help Leigh out in the middle 8s , providing it doesn't interfere with his Horse racing. .

Rumours have it Dan Campbell from the Miami Dolphins is available for when the shoulder charge comes back in.

So, we're in the Middle 8's next season, eh?
