Quote: Leigh CPA "As the team continue to do a great job on the field, the players' association is developing at great speed off the field.
We launch our heritage numbers at a dinner on Friday 15th August (we may have a handful of tickets left - will put it on here or @leighcpa if we do)
On Wednesday 20th August, there will be a public launch in the Banqueting Suite. Also on this night, the first team squad will be presented with their heritage shirt that they will wear for the game on the 30th. *** 5 of these shirts will be available in a raffle that is being promoted by the club.
On Monday 25th August, Leigh Cricket Club have challenged the association to a friendly 20/20 game. Already, we have confirmed players in Sid Baldwin, Tony Cottrell, Steve Cawley, Ian Hudspith, Chris Irwin and myself - and perhaps a 'ringer' who was once on scholarship at Leigh but now plays for Nottinghamshire!
Our main event on Saturday 30th August. We are looking for as many players who have played for Leigh to attend the game. Already we have just over 50 players who have confirmed their attendance. The surviving members from our 1971 Wembley team will be there - Dave Eckersley is coming over from Australia and is looking forward to it.
The plan is to parade our heritage numbers around the pitch before the game. What we need is a child to represent each player who has played for Leigh since 1895! That is nearly 1400 players which means we need a lot of children!
The club are running a competition with a chance to WIN £1000 to a team/club/organisation and take part int he parade.
If you know any teams or coaches you think would like to be involved, please drop me an emailWe can do this with the support of local sporting organisations, brownies, scouts, cubs, rainbows, church groups - lets get as many kids involved as possible!'"
Isnt that what was said in original post highlighted above Linda
