| Australian....some info below.
Leigh boss Paul Rowley brought Australian Cameron Pitman into the starting 17 against Rochdale after some consistent performances in the reserves.
He had a sound home debut in the centres and Leigh boss Rowley says Pitman’s progression shows everyone at the club has the opportunity to make the first team.
“Nobody’s place is nailed on,” he said.
“Cameron has been outstanding since coming to Leigh last year and there are lots of other players who are not far away from getting the chance in our first team.”
Pitman’s dad was friends with the ex-Leigh forward John McVay, who lived in Australia, sadly John has since passed away.
McVay had recommended Leigh so when Cameron fancied a chance over here he contacted Paul’s dad Allan Rowley.
He paid his own way over and played U20s last year before getting his chance.
Pitman made his debut at Barrow on the wing in a 34-22 win last season.
The sporting gene is clearly strong in the Pitman family – his sister Chelsea plays netball professionally in Australia for the Perth based West Coast Fever side.

| How old is he? He's been a revelation since breaking into the 1st team. Paid his own way over and has taken his chance with both hands, good on him!

| He's really seized his chance, another sign of just how good a situation the club is in that we've got young players coming through our reserves forcing very experienced players out of the 1st team.
