It was a great send off and many turned up to pay respect to Tony. A few of us already knew the great things coming from the club but most only thought that Leigh (the town) had rugby club and that was as far as it went.
Andy's presence at the "wake" opened quite a few eyes and even the non rugby crowd were touched by the gesture. The new found efforts of the club to reach out to the community is getting noticed by a wider spread of people than ever.

I cannot describe myself as a Leyther (not that I would not be proud to do so), and I rarely post on Forums but I just wanted to say how refreshing it is to visit this forum.

The intimate involvement of your senior executives, (I think I even saw your finance guy pop up!), the detailed communications and the general feeling of support and optimism here is a genuine pleasure to see.

I cannot praise your Board enough, their dedication, professionalism and passion for both the club and the fans is incredible - I have no idea how they manage to have the time to hold down day jobs too! Given where you were only a short time ago and where you are now their results speak for themselves and you are incredibly lucky to have your management team on board. They should be considered a shining example of how to do thing properly across the RL community - and frankly to other sports too.

Very good luck to Leigh in the coming season, and I wish you every success both on and off the pitch - you deserve it

The last match that Tony watched was the batley one at the end of last season, I know that he had confidence in what was happening in the close season but todays performance would have been well beyond his expectations.
