Quote JENKY="JENKY"Not bothered what squad Wigan send as I'm certain the Leigh one will be the strongest at that point in time and that matters more to me
In all seriousness I can fully understand people wanting to see superstars at the LSV and no doubt the pricing may reflect that but for me the real players I want to see are the ones in Leigh shirts so my preference would be to see all our new signings get a run out and start to gel, if that's v Wigans full team (is it really such a star packed team these days, to a outsider it seems a decent young squad of grafters who play as a collective rather than the days of big name big earning individual players) or Wigans kids (and lets be realistic - the latter is what most people will expect to see as Wigan have sent the kids for a few years now) lets not forget the main reason why we are going to this game - to watch a new team of hero's in Cherry and White that are called Leigh Centurions.
Looking forward to the season starting and might take in the odd pre season game as a change just to show the board all that effort isn't being wasted.'"
Great Post Jenky
Like you what interests me most is seeing Super League class signings like Alex Brown, Liam Kay and Tom Spencer in a Leigh Jersey.
I can confirm however having seen the correspondence in writing between Wigan and Leigh we stipulated in no uncertain terms we were only interested in having a friendly with Wigan if it was to be a First Team friendly and we would look elsewhere otherwise and indeed we had a plan B,C&D if Wigan and indeed Salford could not commit to strong first team squads and were coming with weakened teams.
We have it writing from Wigan and have a joint PR exercise in place and Wigan who are looking to market the game at their end and bring a crowd with them and have incentives to do so the way deal is structured so fans can rest assured this game Will not go down the same route as the last few seasons.
To add fuel to the fire as only Derek Beaumont Can do he's thrown fuel on fire by reminding Wigan we are unbeaten in this fixture for the last few years and I kid you not I've seen the emails
We might have a good relationship we may be professional but as far as Derek and Paul are concerned they are preparing our boys for a crack at the SL and CC champions.
I understand fans being sceptical but it will be a very strong Wigan side and we look forward to the challenge.
