10303_1313522771.jpg Bolton by birth,
Irish by blood,
LEYTHER by heart and soul!!
30/04/06 "Some of W*gan's travelling fans headed towards the exit before it was even over.".................no change there then!![/quote:suio7kr3]
.....They are our people. Drummond, Costello, Manfredi, Svabic, Martyn, Street, Tickle, Patel, Mossop, Horo, Bristow, Leuleui, Varley, Fleary, Rivett, Tabern, Doran, Woods, Donlan, Wilshire, Leaefa, Hansen, Sale, Murphy… these are all my people.
As a Leyther, you’re one of us the moment you come here to wear the shirt. I don't care where you were born, what colour you are, what religion you are, what language you speak. You're one of us, part of our culture, writing our history as you create your own, and making us stronger for it....[/quote:suio7kr3]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10303.jpg |

| Quote: leythermad1971 "it was for Batley the ref had a blinder for them not clue what the off side rule was as for Ridyard to slow over weight no brains as was breily half backs no good sorry to say new signings needed two fast big wingers half backs and full back'"
You are [i"That woman who sits near us in the West stand - spends 75 minutes of every game slagging off everything Riddy ever does - then, win lose or draw, does the W*gan walk with five minutes to go"[/i.....and I claim my £5!!!
Top try assists (again).....yet he does nothing!!!
Anyone who has watched us all season can see that Ryan hasn't been fit since he came back from his serious injury.....he's a good yard slower than he was at the start of the season, yet he's still toppped the try scoring chart - I pray that he hasn't done lasting damage playing on, and that the op he's now due to have will sort things out. 'Kes' is one of those rare breed of players who immediately have you on the edge of your seat whenever they get the ball - and the sort of 'X factor' player that will get the crowds flocking in the coming seasons!!
Some folk wouldn't know which way they were going in a lift if they had two guesses!!

| I think McNally is fine at fullback.
The bombs yesterday was put up by a very good player who can really kick a ball , the way they spun and swirled left McNally with no chance.
In terms of Govin I do think he's now looking towards the latter stages of his career and is getting no younger - Leigh needs some youth and whilst Govin without doubt offers something if he keeps himself clean and focussed its probably a bit unfair to expect too much of a guy who has been missing match fitness for a very long time (even before his ban he seemed to be injured a lot).
If Ryan was unfit yesterday then it was a gamble that backfired for Rowley as the opposition seemingly knew one strong hit would render him pretty much a passenger.
I'm sure a good pre season and a chance to get all the knocks and niggles put to one side for once and for all will see Brierly become a stand out player in this division.
Riddy had a poor game yesterday by his own standards but lets not forget the entire team more or less underperformed and Riddy was easily targeted once Brierly was out the game - maybe our pack of cards was limited and in Kear Batley had a coach who is exceptional tactically and brilliant at reading a game.
Penky gives us options and can change the direction of the game but his late appearance may mean the coach has other preferred options or maybe doesn't think he's got the engine to play large chunks of the game, it could of course be he was also carrying knocks !
In terms of moving Pownall I'd leave him as he is as he's developing into a decent winger who comes inside to help out to take the ball in when the forwards need a breather - for me once he starts to bulk a bit more (but not too much - a proper RL winger should be in a team for speed in my opinion) I think he'll be a 'name' in our team that others mention.
Do we need cover in the backs ?
As yesterday clearly showed our Plan B is easily sussed out or flawed when the better coached / bigger teams arrive and at times this season we've been very predictable (although at times we have shown really good flair, a bit Jekyl and Hyde) so for me it would be a priority.
I haven't seen anything of our youth team to see if any are showing signs of coming through the ranks to warrant a run in Pre season or the occasional bench spot next year (or indeed if they actually belong to us or Wigan - presume next season all the players in the teams representing Leigh will have Leigh as the parent club and not another club) I'm also certain though that every other club is looking for a quality back so we're hardly on our own there !

| We have Pownall,Gardner,Litter & Gardner so why don't we need cover in a season where we can earn half a million for finishing in the top 2? Govin is 28 so hardly passed it if he carries on with where he left off he'll play a big part our 2014 season IMHO.

I'm agreeing we need cover - in fact its something I'd prefer us to look at ! !
In terms of Govin I think he's still a bit of a gamble and whilst its great if it comes off I'd rather us have a bit more security as its a long time since he's really done anything and like I said I think the expectations need keeping in check as to what he may or not be able to do after such a long time away from playing RL at Championship level

| Well I always thought Gov was a good player and if at 28 years old he can't get match fit I would be astonished.
You should see how I move 1 minute before it's my round.

But not in the right direction, from what I'm hearing!
