Quote Jimmy85="Jimmy85".... history tells us Leythers turn out for big games and finals.'"
Not always the case! As those of us who attended the 2006 final will attest to!! Leigh were expected to get a right tatering off the all conquering HKR, after apparently imploding part way through a season that had started with so much promise, and went to Blackpool as major underdogs.....with a vocal, if massively outnumbered support of no more than a couple of thousand!! Luckily our team hadn't read the script!!
Maybe a bit of the Bard needs (mis)quoting at this point:
Henry V:
[i"This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Trains Cup Final Day shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And Leythers in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon this Trains Cup day!" [/i
