If he wants to shake hands and collect a ticket FOC from me tonight he's welcome to drop me a PM I suspect it will be a team full of leythers and leigh players so with cheaper tickets and no Wigan lads how about it fella????.
We want all fans in that stadium behind our boys new or old at the end of the day as a club.
My views are not the views of Leigh Centurions they are my own.'"
I posted controversial messages on here to show you how banter can escalate and hopefully I have done you a favour. As the chairperson of Leigh RLFC, you now represent the town and the club and you need to step back from posting on the MB. What are you going to do if players start posting and slagging MB posters off on this board? Steve Maden and Paul Rowley have had a fair amount of unfair criticism on this board recently. How can you reprimand them if they came on here and started calling posters "bitter and twisted fools" You have set a precedent that players may want to follow, thankfully they are too professional for that.
Like me, you are a passionate fan, but you really do have to step back now. It is good that Leigh want to communicate more but do it via the proper channels. Have a regular Q&A on twitter, or on the MB, for example but do it professionally. You need to welcome back disillusioned fans because they are disillusioned for a reason. Mine is the Wiggin twinning agreement and my passion for Leigh can never never accept it, because for me it is tribal and always will be.
As a passionate fan you have got the dream position, we would all love it, but with that position comes a lot of responsibility because you are the figurehead of Leigh RLFC and the town.
Re: Steve Maden, I think he has been one of the most improved players over the last two years in the Leigh squad. He is as safe as houses under the high ball now and takes the ball in hard, helping to take some of the work from his forwards. Congrats on your 200 appearance last night. Hope there are many more.
Re: Paul Rowley. You wouldn't meet a nicer young bloke and he is Leigh through and through. He is a young coach quietly learning his trade and he will be successful because he is a winner. I will never forget when we played Wigan in SL away and we had a squad of travellers who didn't know the meaning of a derby game with the enemy. Paul Rowley was the only player fired up and he wasn't half blasting the rest of the team behind the sticks as Wiggin stuffed us. Congrats on getting Leigh to the final Paul. Really pleased for you and the team of registered Leigh players.
