It'll never happen it'll always need the Leigh brand name , with your suggestion you'll alienate far far more fans than you'll attract from the Bolton area .

Only one sporting team could get away with dropping the place name from their identity and that's Manchester United because if any one asks which team you follow and you reply United they wouldn't think you meant Leeds United , Torquay United or any other Mickey Mouse United would they ? .

So we'll leave it as is for now .

Don't know what I did but I seem to have deleted my original reply !
For me people in Bolton do class Leigh as the local team so no need to drop the Leigh bit but I do agree we really do need to get really into the schools and in the town to flog our brand.
Things are slowly happening and I have no idea what is happening with the clubs plans as everything is now quiet but once we get things sorted the priority one would be ensure people within 5 miles of the LSV know who we are, what we are, where we play and what we are good at.
After that increase it to 7 miles, then 10 and so on but set up a roster of who will visit these areas / schools / business's / events every 3 months to ensure the brand remains in the eyes of those we want.
A quick fix won't work and it needs a professionally run independent department within the club (Wigan will be the attraction if we merge resources on this with them and tbh we would be totally wasting our time bothering doing anything as its like asking kids to follow Bury with free tickets when they are also handed Manchester United ones).
The next big signings for our club MUST be off field as without that expertise and opportunity to increase revenue streams we will always be a low league selling club punching above our weight, a bit of thought and we could realise our true potential.

Centurions is the brand name only.

There are always those who will claim to be a fan, but only on 'their' terms.

If they got rid of the twinning arrangements they'd not go until they dropped the Centurions brand.
If they dropped the Centurions brand, they'd not go as long as we were playing in red, not cherry.
If we changed to cherry, they'd want LSV rebranding 'New Hilton Park'.
If it became NHP then they'd want Alex Murphy as coach.....


It's nothing to do with 'having the club at heart', that's the last thing they have. It's more about a dislike of change.

Is that called being parochial?
