| Quote: Grimmy "I assume it comes from Wigan being more predominantly catholic and Leigh Protestant. I don't even know if that's the case though tbh the vast majority of people I know from either aren't religious'"
More like they only had to change 'The pope' to 'Wigan Rugby'. Changing more lyrics would be too hard a task for them.

Please show me where I've said "any song is ok" my post was in relation to the flute song, that's it.

| I must admit , for me "THE SONG ", is OK , i know many Wiganers find it amusing , not at all offensive , i have NEVER stood up because i DONT hate Wigan , or ever chanted the same , and admit ive NEVER heard any racist chanting from Leigh supporters , on Friday i felt some chanting was not needed , but thats life .

IRN-BRU - THE NEW TASTE OF RUGBY LEAGUE !!:10619.jpg |
|
| My My, what a sensitive bunch of fans we have become?
Instead of concentrating on the teams efforts, commending the pride and grit the team displayed when it looked like Wigan would run riot, some instead would rather choose to devote a 6 page thread to 'That song'
Each and everyone of our fans all got behind the lads from start to finish and you could see that we generated a fantastic atmosphere that visibly lifted our team and was reflective in the display.
For what it's worth the song actually bores me to tears when ever it is sang elsewhere, but If there was ever a time and place for it IMO then a packed away end at Wigan is definitely it. Sport is a very passionate business and when you are playing your arch enemy then raw emotions will become evident. That's what makes sport great.
As far as I know there was not even a hint of any trouble and the players, officials and the vast majority of fans from both clubs appeared to thoroughly enjoy the occasion and concentrated their post match discussions rightly on the game itself.
I do sometimes have the impression that a few of our supporters would rather the fans heckle our team or just sit in stony silence rather than getting fully behind them as they did on Friday,
Let's put it to bed.

I went to work this morning expecting abuse, all I got was compliments on the way both the team but especially the fans performed on Friday night.
