| Good evening fellow Leythers. May I just point out that I have trawled this message board for a few years now, and never had the inclination to post. I must start by saying that I am totally disgusted with a lot of the comments regarding this post. Do you not understand that we are in a Dual registration with Wigan Warriors, nothing more, nothing less.We had this agreement with Wigan last season and nobody complained then, so what is the problem now. We have only signed up as a partnership because that is the way the RFL want us to word it.
Things are happening behind the scenes that if sucessful will bring a whole new look to our fantastic club, hopefully in the very near future, and before anyone shoots me down, we will have a Leigh Centurions team to support for a long time to come yet. Please be patient and do not shy away from giving our club your full support.
If anyone wants to know more, please get in touch with Trevor, and hopefully he can put peoples minds at rest once and for all.

Not really but it doesn't require an opposing view calling other people idiots.
We've no doubt watched Leyth about the same number of years, this latest issue has proved to be very emotive and one which requires further understanding.

| Quote Starbug="Starbug"That is where I thought you were going, in essence quite often the pro clubs abuse the juniors at the amateur clubs with false hopes and promises , then drop them
So it begs the question, are the pro clubs fit for purpose to oversee the junior development?'"
IMO Steve no they're not .
I feel the service area lark causes more mayhem amongst our youth teams than any productivity that comes out of it ....... Do I know the solution ? , well no I don't but I do know this scenario isn't working .... and as has been mention earlier in this thread .... just because you haven't made the grade by the age of 16 / 18 / 20 doesn't mean that's it you've had your chance now be off with you !! .
The youth after all are the future .

| Not getting into any serious debate about this crap. My opinion firmly stands that I don't agree with being a feeder club to any sl team, especially the old enemy pie eaters!! Feeling very down about this decision from club
I will continue to watch, and probably see my club deteriorate. until I can't handle it any more. or until the club folds.
seems like peoples predictions from a few years ago are now coming true. Doesn't look like we'll ever make it to the top again. sad times for this once proud town....
I fear the worst and hope that somehow I'm proven wrong. but I just cannot see the benefits for anyone

| You Leythers are very bitter and very paranoid. I feel sorry for you if you cannot see the benefit of this agreement. Just because it's 'W***n'. Get a grip.
Would there be the same uproar if this was Warrington or St. Helens, I think not.

Please feel free to explain to me what the benefits are?
Why do we Leythers need this Partnership?

you are possibly correct in your statement, as the history between the towns or rugby teams of Warrington and St Helens do not match the the past or current status of events between the towns and villages around Leigh and the town and rugby club of wigan. The word is mistrust.

Now that's not fair. Some of us realise in times of crisis we need to support our team. Never mind in time of crisis I am a Leyther.
Many many years ago we lost Alex Murphy to Wire and our fans dropped to less than a 1000.
No wonder we never get better as a club when everytime someone at the club makes a blunder so called fans call it a day.
Instead support our team and voice your displeasure at fans forums or on this one. But whatever if you are a Leigh supporter you should first and foremost get behind the lads who represent our club.

Whatever anyones opinions on this partnership I think its safe to say no-one knows how it will pan out.
Some will attend everygame whatever the team,
Some will boycott the games due to the partnership,
Some will wait and see what happens (be that attending games or staying away)
Some might come as they are a Wigan fan and fancy watching there youngsters,
All carry a plus or a negative depending on your particular viewpoint.
Everyone is different and everyone will view this partnership differently.

| Blunders can be rectified, (if there has been a blunder?) the problem I have is, I have yet to see anyone who can help me to understand ‘Why we need this Partnership?’ What the benefits of this Partnership are to my club?
This is my take on the key points…..
Do I understand that Leigh need to bolster the squad by loaning players? YES, we always have.
Am I happy if those players came from Wigan? YES I don’t care were they come from.
Do I think Rowley will pick the team? YES but he can only choose from those Wigan make available.
Do I think Wigan will send us different players? YES why wouldn’t they want all their squad have the opportunity to play at the highest level possible?
Do I like the idea of potentially having a different Wigan player in our team every week? NO
What happens if Rowley refuses to play the player offered? I’d guess at best he’d have to pick one of our own. At worst Wigan would keep sending the player they want us to play until we either play him or makes the agreement worthless.
Do I think if say Charnley breaks his leg and then needs to get fit, he’ll get sent to Leigh? YES were else could he go, South Wales?
Do I know what Rowley and even more importantly Wane considers established SL players are? NO
Do I think this is better than Swinton? Not really. Any 4 from 20 is not much different from any 4 from 30.
Do I think we should be helping junior development? YES but by supporting the people in the best place to do it, the local Amateur clubs and that’s why I was part of Leigh Community RL Development Group. Aim was to try and help improve the clubs, by looking at Coach Education Programmes, Player to club links, Health improvement programmes, Joint fundraising events, Junior Centurions, discounted/cashback tickets, Promotion of the local club to schools, and promotion of the female game.
Do I think Leigh could help junior development without Wigan? Yes but it needs a very good pro-active Community team.
Do we have a pro-active Community team? I don’t know if we even have a Community team, what I do know is the award winning one we had is still active in our community.
Do I think this Partnership will put bums on seats? NO, but I think working in our community with our amateur clubs and schools might do.
Do I know enough about the player pathway to see the improvement this partnership offers? No but I can’t see if a Player gets kicked out at Wigan why this will mean he would automatically come to Leigh. If he has ambition to be Pro then why would he not go to say Salford or Widnes. Or are we now taking hostages?
I am told we currently have a good U20’s which includes 2 or 3 from Wigan, I assume that means all the others are from Leigh, so after Wigan’s been and cherry picked the best (which they will still do) for some strange reason unbeknown to man the others, somehow miraculously found the pathway to us?
I was told when I used Chris Hill as an example of our development that he was the exception, well that maybe so, but the fact he still sits in the stands watching us play says someone looked after him, someone put their arm around him when he didn’t want to go were Wigan said he had to. We showed we cared, we watched him grow and when the time was right we waved him off.
If we care so much about junior development and also want to save cash, why did we sign Penky when we have Nicholson? (I rate both players, its not about players)
So for me we need a few players on loan (Rowleys choice), do whatever it takes to make up with the Community trust (I’ve no idea who was and wasn’t at fault - and I don’t care, if we can make friends with Wigan then……….), build a relationship with but leave player development to the experts the Amateur clubs, even the players at Wigan started there..
Alternatively someone please tell me Why we need this Partnership?
