They probably won't/can't actually. We as a club, are not responsible for our attendance figures, which are taken by our 'landlords', LSV, and then presented to us. And if we were able to 'massage' them, I'd like to think we could have come up with something higher than we have achieved this season. (in non-shared gates that is

As an aside, be careful of making suggestions about 'massaging' attendances. HMRC are interested in ACTUAL numbers, and are probably watching RL clubs closely, given what has happened to a few of us, in the last year or so!

Last seasons final eliminator v Sheffield, we only had a crowd of 1800 (ish) 2nd biggest game of the season, even though sheff brought about 50 fans, it was still a poor effort.
Not used to seeing your typical crowd at Fev, but was surprised at what was given, looked over 2300 at least. With there being a few hundred Leyhters, say 1500 Fev fans, quite a few 'season ticket holders' did not attend the game.....saving their cash for the Final !!!

Taxman is only bothered about the financial figures, the attendance figure makes bugger all difference to them.

Besides which, attendance does not necessarily equate to revenue. If you let in lots of kids, or even give out adult tickets, for free, the attendance figures are higher without increasing the revenue (and tax liability) on the gate money. So you can inflate a crowd (real, or imagined) without increasing tax.

Some newspapers (especially the Independent) give out loads of freebies in hotels etc, but then count them in their circulation figures. Maybe Fev are giving away unused tickets, to kids etc, but including those in the attendance.

Don't knock it until its done. Would you still like to own your ground and not of been where you were 12 months ago or pay a landlord rent to stand / sit in a shiney stadium with no income from sales and half of it shut

I remember a similar final eliminater and shared gate against Batley at Hilton Park in 2003. Batley made an official complaint to the RFL at their final share they received from Leigh.
