To be honest I wouldn't pick Hilly for England either.

Yet.

He's had a huge season, a huge step up from Championship rugby. Thrusting him straight into international rugby might not be the best move, the Knights squad is the best way to go in the short term.

Once he's got his first cap, he'll have a bagfull and will lead the England front row for a good many years.

I think he's good enough for England right now, but I agree that there's no need to take the risks. It's always best to go one step at a time, no matter how quickly you take those steps.

Why not - England play Wales & France this autumn, the perfect teams to give him experience of playing international rugby and better preparation for next years world cup than sticking him with the Knights to play Ireland & Scotland
