There was MOM Jamie Durbin , he had a blinder , young Billy Sheens , and Leon Brennan ex Easts and Miners , who scored 2 very good tries , but my MOM was a guy called Jono Smith , im sure ive seen him playing for Easts 2nd team this year ,this bloke was magical , he showed passion , pride , enthusiasum ,scored a very good try , an kicked a couple of goals ,i applaud you young Jono
not very big , barrel chested , reminded me of a young Peter Smethurst , you could see the Joy in his face when he scored ,and the Dismay and Agony when they scored , this lad was a joy to watch , im sure hes a Leyther .
The Crusaders now play Wigan at the JJB this week-end , and young Jono and hid teamates will be up against Gareth Hock , Jeff Lima , and co , what a reward for them ,Cmon you Crusaders.Well Done .'"
He's from Warrington. John Fieldhouse (now assistant at NWC) had some influence in taking him to Leigh East. I think at the time he was playing for Warrington Wizards and had just won MOM in the Rugby League Conference Grand Final and I think he won player of the year too. |

Good afternoon out! That Jono player gave his all with some good contributions elsewhere, I do worry for the Wigan scoreboard folk though next week, might have to hire an extra pair of hands..

Just put an advert in the Widnes Observer. There's loads of folk there with extra fingers and arms and heads. You'll only need one of um.   |

Don't know what happened with Russell. Maybe we had sufficient cover at full back/wing - or maybe Wigan were reluctant to release a squad player, with two games in four days? |

Derek , didnt he play when your lad played against Easts for Rylands last year ?He was a joy to watch , im not saying he is good enough to play for Leigh , but i love lads that show commitment , and effort as this lad did , i hope he plays and enjoys the game against Wigan . |
