I moved to Leigh earlier this year and therefore cant claim to be a true Leyther and im also fairly new to rugby league therefore please ignore me if im talking nonsense here howver, i became a fan of the Leigh centurions and attended several matches last season. Im going to try to support the club more actively this season (Season ticket, LISA, the odd away game etc) and despite the loss of Arthur, Millward and several key players we seem to be building a good squad this year. Im sure we'd all like to see Leigh in the super league and if im not mistaken we took a big step towards that last year with the NRC win, the thing that concerns me is the attendances- seeing that stadium 1/4 full on matchday makes me feel depressed especially when the team are playing as well as they did last year. I know the warriors are only down the road but im sure there's plenty of Leigh folk out there that would be quite happy to pay £11 to watch a quality rugby league team. The point im trying to make is that i live literally round the corner from the LSV and for the first couple of months i only knew there were matches on when i saw an unusual amount of hairy blokes walking past my front window wearing Leigh shirts. Why dont Leigh advertise more? I pass several advertisements for circus's in Wigan everyday and if i need to 'earn extra cash at home' i wouldnt need to look much further than the local lampost - but nothing for the centurions, why? You cant read whats advertised on the stadiums TV screen from Atherleigh way so that doesnt work well (Morrisons shoppers might now though). Why dont they put up the odd poster on the huge billboards on Atherleigh way opposite Sainsbury's - Morrisons put up 3 this last week! Do they advertise anywhere?
