Quote: Agricola "Over the last few days I have seen lots of good ideas about how we can all pump our money into the club. Now this is all well and good but I don't see any ideas of how we attract new or lapsed fans. There may well be attendees who don't particularly support Leigh but for whom it was merely the nearest place that they could watch a reasonable level of RL. So how to bring them back? Realise what the club is and price it accordingly. No one is going to pay Heinz prices for smart price beans. Price the product according to the quality. In other words attractively priced tickets reflecting a team that will compete but won't break any pots. A couple of years of that may have brought new fans that have become loyal and we won't have any pie in the sky aspirations. I now wait to be shot down.'"
I think it is a case of priorities. Firstly, we need a club in existence in the first place. And then shaping the club and attracting new fans comes later.
One of the good things I've noticed is that through Trevor, the club is reaching out to people to come and help. This can only encourage engagement and hopefully, the news spreads that good thigns are happening at Leigh and new supporters will want to be a part of it.
Very welcome as Arthur Thomas and his money were, in a sense, the feeling of ownership amongst the fans was lost as a result.
Now as fans, we are being asked to grow up and be responsible for the future of the club. I think that is a good thing.
