I see that annual Sports Council funding to the RL has been cut by one million pounds per year. The reason given is that number of participants in the sport has halved in 12 months.
I was talking to someone the other night who currently plays amateur RL, who will not continue when the sport moves to summer.
Will this move result in even less participation???
If we are to keep the unloved franchise system to decide who should play in our top league then why don't the RFL have it wriiten in the franchise that each club must have x amounts of school children playing the sports in a 3 year period and have them affiliated to the town/citys RL club who is bidding for a franchise.
