You might be right......from what I can gather off t'interweb, a lot of pubs called themselves 'Hotel' or 'Inn' to get round the Sunday licensing laws, especially in Wales and Scotland, where a lot of places were 'dry' on Sundays!!

I'm willing to believe the other 'laws' you posted but the suggest that anywhere in Scotland is dry, let alone a pub, is clearly just nonsense?!?
