Quote FredParky="FredParky"stop being so 'holier than thou' Alex the promises were all coming from the Wigan camp (for which Leigh have publically thanked the Wigan club for) and they have not delivered on those promises, you are obviously hardened to the tricks being played by them on your speccies, or are you so thick skinned as to think that less of your speccies would have travelled if they had known before the tickets went on sale that the agreement had been broken and that Wigan were sending a youth team (if that isnt so I look forwad to seeing 1500 of your speccies at Orrell next week.)
Pardon me for not going down on my knees and praying to the sun god that the mighty SL club had agreed to play such unworthy opponents but If you had bothered to read what I wrote I actually said I was thankfull that Wigan had sent a team at all so the last line in your post in reply to me just shows arrogance personified and unfortunately typical of some SL spectators, something which I hoped was above you, and you should know by now im not usually Wigan RFC basher
I look forward to the two club working closer but the initial signs don't look good.
Dave Wigan will not allow Davies to play reserve team football at Widnes, Wigan insist all their loan signings (forget the dual contract malarky things have not changed that much) be given first team football that is their club policy - and rightly so IMO they will learn nothing from playing in a lesser comp than they already do.'"
Bad day Fred?
The club didn't play tricks on our supporters what so ever. If they had common sense they'd realise the game was a friendly and that the team was obviously going to include youngsters and I believe the club didn't know what Maguire's selection would be before they put the tickets on sale, so more fool the supporters who pre-purchased tickets. Those supporters shouldn't be considered in Maguire's on field preperations and neither should Leigh.
In regards to the last line, it's not arrogance what so ever. Leigh aren't a charity, they are a fully operational Rugby League club and we have no ties with them. Ian Lenegan said they'd like to see Leigh in Super League and would help them and we have done already with the two friendlies regardless of what team was sent from Wigan. Also, there have, is and will be loan player negotaitions between the two clubs. Whether they pull off or not is another story but there ARE attempts to agree terms.
Any help/co-operation/agreements with Wigan is better than none at all, and it's pathetic that there are Leythers whinging about Wigan's recent involvement of the club. It seems to me that some people feel patronised that Wigan are offering to help and are jumping at the chance to take a swipe at the club should the new relationship not go totally Leigh's way.
I really hope your club doesn't share the same view and biterness that some of it's supporters do. Otherwise I hope Lenegan sticks two fingers up at you all and concentrate on working alongside a club such as Widnes whom we're on great terms with.
