Leigh Miners recent good run of results come crashing down today with a 32-20 defeat away to Wath Brow Hornets, Miners made an excellent start when winger Darryl Flannery went over in the opening minutes on debut to give the visitors an early 4-0 lead. The rest of the first half belonged to the Hornets with miners giving to many penalties away allowing Wath Brow to get on the front foot scoring four tries giving them a deserved 20-4 advantage. Danny Jones scored right on half time for miners giving Wath Brow a 20-8 half time lead
Miners started the second half the brighter and got there rewards when hooker Aaron Gorton raced away to score bringing miners back within six points giving the score 20-14 to the host. The gamebreaker come soon after with miners on the front foot miners knocking on with the try line begging, a miners try would have probably seen miners go on and take the game but wath brow capatalized and went onto score followed by a penalty goal giving them a 26-14 lead. Darryl Flannery scored is second of the game late on before wath brow wrapped up the game with the final play of the game scoring and converting giving them a 32-20 victory.
