Quote: DParky "Can't disagree about the presentation, it cheapened the entire thing.
Each one of those lads should have been welcomed onto the field individually and the cup presented even if they collected it from the stand like the Cup Final, the lads should then have had a lap of honour.
I'm not an official voice for the club as I'm not a paid official. I help out where I can and that help usually co-incides with when proper work allows!
I have never drawn a wage from the club.
Lack of information is nothing new but it must look at changing. I say this every season and I banged my head against that brick wall for 4 long years for the website, I go through a similar process everytime there is a change in the coaching role.
The programme this season has been an excellent source of information and I hope that the club make an early decision, also with someone out there with the contacts and know how of Mike Hulme, who knows what could be achieved?
Roger Halstead does a fine job now for Oldham now his reporting days are behind him.
I don't believe in grudges and I know that people will work hard behind the scenes.
My point was if it all don't pull together it fails, like a house of cards. The club has a responsibility to this, the directors do, employees do, local press do, supporters do, amateur clubs do.
There are politics, there always is but I hope things can change, it might be a little too much utopia but personally and thats me, not reporter, just supporter i'd sooner have that before Super League, then you've got an engaged community, pulling the same way.
Needless to say on my next leave from work I'll be banging the door of the office asking about news...'"
Well said Dave. I know first hand how you feel. I had 30-odd years of banging my head against a brick wall. Unless it suited the club getting info from club officials (most coaches excepted) was like pulling teeth. Attitudes have to change because I fear unless they do we'll still be having these discussions in five years time!
