| Well I think it's great news. One of the very rare positive news releases from the club.
But for me there are a couple of questions:
1. What perks do you get? Maybe the club could expand upon this to get more people interested.
2. They will have a 'say in the running of the club'. This is the most important one for me. The corporate club will be putting in significant fund and need to dictate where the funds are spent. Also what say do they have on th club? Could they influence who will be coach? who we will sign? Will the directors of the club be held accountable to them?
My worry is this - it will still be the same people running the club, and im sure that they will admit themselves that they have made some terrible decisions. I would hate for the corporate club to contribute a lot of money to the club for them to make a massive mistake on the appointment of a coach, paying £30K to a player to play 40 mins of rugby, two unfair dismissal claims etc (or whatever they were), no marketing, no voice from the club, not enough community ties etc.. These are all theings that money has been wasted on in the past and it would be terrible if these business men are also unimpressed in where their investment is spent.
So for me the two questions above need to be ansered asap. Also the five are businessmen. What else can they offer, maybe the club should use this as a publicity drive for people to volunteer services, service at a reduced rate etc. If the five businessmen are as successful as most say, then maybe they need a voice on the board to ensure that the club is run in a more professional way?
I also noticed that Vaughan at Chester has invited the three clubs main supporters that are some form of entity to have a say by the appointment of someone to the board.
maybe now is the time for the current board members to be joined by a voice from the corporate club, LISA, consultant? (youu never know who might offer their time).
I hope Leigh RLFC can now move on to bigger and better things.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| I tend to agree with Maurice on this one
In the same way that LISA is a separate entity a business support club would be better run by non club people
As I put on the original thread , in my opinion if an incentive was to be part of the deal it would be better done as a % of the donation
That way if say a pub wanted to join the ' club ' and was willing to put £ 500 in then they could have access to 40 % of that £ 500 [ £ 200 ] in either tickets, merchandise or corporate hospitality at cost
They then can use that as prizes , giveaways or whatever in whatever way they want to
The added value of this would be marketing for the club
My idea anyway , in the next few days I'll contact the relevant people to ask to join and pass on my idea's

May be one day Starbug the board will actually listen to one of your ideas.

Totally agree. Needs to be as transparent as this or else it might all come tumbling down two years down the line after a spot of favouritism is revealed.
