| Just for the record. Tommy Sale who has been watching Leigh since 1928 and probably knows more about the club than anyone alive compiled his own Leigh dream team five years ago for rucby league world. It was as follows:
Ledgard
Drummond
Lewis
Allan
Walsh
Woods
Murphy
Chisnall
Ashcroft
Owen
Pawsey
M Martyn
Foster
Subs
Eckersley
T Martyn Snr
Kitchen
Smethurst
He also gave an honourable mention to: Darwell, Kindon, Robinson,Donlan and Turley amongst a few others. Interestingly the name Tim Street does not appear which underlines the fact that while he remains a massive cult hero at Leigh his playing skills don't quite merit a place in the dream team. Particularly as he is up aginst props with international honours!

| Totally agree with TS, great servant in the lower leagues for us but a dream team played the best of their time, TS never shone against the best like Wilkinson, Pyke, Chisnall, Owen, etc
What we must remember is that many posters have never seen Leigh mix it with the best.

| This is the problem really because as people say they can only go off what they've seen. Tim Street wouldn't have made it into my dream team either but everyone has their own opinions and that's the point of starting the poll in the first place.
I've got Alex Murphy's Leigh dream team to post tomorrow - I wonder whether he'll put himself in it!

| I take all your points, but considering that the current dream team, as it stands, only contains Bristow, Rowley, Street and Turley from what I can see, who have played for Leigh in the last fifteen years or so and that the rest of the team is made up of players that have certainly mixed it with the best, whoever has voted seem to have selected players from over a large period of years. A lot of people who have selected players such as Street, have also selected players from the championship and challenge cup winning teams. I am 50 years old and have compiled my team with a selection of fans who are 60 plus years old. They all rate Street as one of the best props they have seen at Leigh. It is just opinions isn't it? However, I do believe that the way you are going about selecting the team is the best way of doing things. Of course, someone 70 plus may come up with a different team to a twenty year old, but I think overall you will come up with a pretty good team, that represents all the eras. We could argue forever about who should and should not be included, but as far as I can see the current team looks a fair one to me and despite not agreeing with it 100%, I can see why they are all in there. When you take opinions from a wide cross section of people, you'll find you come up with a pretty good side IMO.

1 David Eckersley
2 Des Drummond
3 Gordon Lewis
4 Trevor Allen
5 Joe Walsh
6 John Woods
7 Alex Murphy
8 Dave Chisnall
9 Kevin Ashcroft

12 Tommy Martyn (Snr
13 Peter Foster

These players also get an honourable mention:

Alf Wilkinson (strong forward, good player)
Derek Pyke (great pair of hands, great football player)
Stuart Ferguson (could play centre, full back, wing and a magnificent goal kicker)
Also Steve Donlan, Terry Bilsbury and Mick Hogan.
