| Quote Lost in Leeds="Lost in Leeds"Hmm to quote ' we cant go from banning e-cigs to promoting them'
How is this different to reversing the ban on alcohol at wilderspool and installing bars on all the terraces?'"
It depends on the reasoning for the ban, why they changed their minds and the new message they are sending out.
Quote Lost in Leeds="Wire Yed"Yet you'd probably buy them a happy meal with a smile on your face.'"
Are you comparing going to McDonalds with smoking?
Quote Lost in Leeds="Uncle Rico"I'm going to throw my opinion behind the lobby that this is a bad thing or at least a backwards step. Sure it's not illegal but as a club we are judged by the company we keep. Emirates is one thing an e-cig vaping company is another and not in a good way as far as I'm concerned, hence the need for all the rhetoric about 'health benefits' when it's purely about the pound notes.'"
Spot on
Quote Lost in Leeds="moving on..."Thing is, ask someone to stop and they'll just say no as they aren't break a rule. 'Tough' is the word. It's only a minority of saddos who are blowing it into something bigger than it is who cares.
Maybe that's what our bright yellow away shirt is for? To see the players through the dense smog created by the e-cigs. FFS, people are making out like fiddlers ferry cooling towers are billowing smoke directly into the ground.'"
I'm not calling for a boycott or a protest, or threatening to hand my season ticket back. If you want to stand next to me and vape, I couldn't care less. I just think, like Uncle Rico says, it's a bad move for the club to associate and promote with such companies and then talk about health and fitness.

How to treat people like Idiots: Lesson 1
“We initially introduced the vaping ban as a ‘just in case’ measure, but are now happy to reverse this as more news on the industry comes to light. "

| Vaping does not produce smoke it produces vapour. Anyone terrified by vapour had best stop boiling a kettle or having a hot bath.
i get some peoples concerns about the nicotine content(purely based on cigarettes) but practically everthing sold at the ground that is consumed is bad for your health such as pies, pizzas, alcohol, pop etc and the reasonthey are sold is to make money. None of them are on sale for health reasons.
There is no evidence that vaping effects the health of anyone yet 10,000s of people die of alcohol related illnesses every year and nobody is calling for a ban on that at the ground.
If i saw a grass snake i would be wary of it injecting me with venom. Thats cos i associate snakes with venom.

On a fundamental level, why the hell to people bother with 'vaping' in the first place?
The line spun about the tobacco companies introducing this for the good of our health is just utter tripe. Either smoke or bloody stop smoking.

Hardened smokers don't seem to take to vaping though, my parents have tried and rejected them.
The whole idea seems to smack of tobacco companies having their cake and eating it. And I bet they turn out to be just as bad for your health (give it a few years and something onerous will appear in the media).

| I know plenty of smokers who have moved over to vaping when the patches and chewies always seemed to fail. My place of employment banned them indoors but also insisted that vapers mustnt use the smoking shelters outside. So the vapers get wet while the smokers stay sheltered. I support vapers

| No one best be near me with steaming hot cup of coffee at the game. I don't want to be inhaling all those caffeine vapours. Why do we sell it at the ground anyway? Can't people go for 80 mins without their pathetic caffeine fix?

| Seeing many people leaving & entering the ground ,there doesn't seem to be a big percentage of them obsessed with the healthy lifestyle that e cig vapour would affect anyway.

| C'mon chaps. It's getting a bit silly, now.
The club have made a commercial decision which will benefit them (and the supporters) by means of much needed cash. That cash will go towards
a) an overseas signing
b) a contact extension for an existing player
c) a transfer target
d) promotion of a youngster to a full squad member
e) ground improvements
I'm sure the club's lawyers have looked at this e-cig business from every angle and decided that their money (the e-cig company....see, advertising can't be that great, as we're 11 pages into a thread, and I can't tell you the name of the "devil" company) is as good as anyone elses.
The stand isn't sponsored by
Jimmy Savile
Osama bin Laden
Joseph Stalin
Harold Shipman.
It's sponsored by a legitimate, tax paying (I assume) registered company, which isn't breaking any rules.
I'm just shaking my head at some of the people on here, taking the moral high ground, and wanting to be upset/offended by the slightest thing. Sky have prominent advertising hoardings around the ground (as well as pumping 100's of millions into our game over the last 2 decades). Do we tell them that we don't want their money, as they'll be screening films/shows tonight with scenes of sex and violence. After all, someone might get upset.
Is anyone going to boycott their local newsagent, because they stock porn mags....after all, some people find porn offensive
Alcohol causes numerous bodily issues, as well as domestic problems. I see no thread asking for the removal of the bars from the ground (although it might be a plus point. It might stop people wandering back and to, to the bar, obstructing views, and then spilling beer over the person in front when we score. I find that issue more troublesome than e-cig vapour, personally).
If we believe the media hype, we are on the brink of an obesity epidemic. I see no call to close down the food outlets to stop the selling of pizza, hot dogs, pies and fizzy drinks. Can we not shut these down, or simply restock them with raw carrots, avacados, and spinach, all to be washed down with a pomegranate and blueberry smoothie, unsweetened, of course. We don't want the sugar police coming on here.
There are times in life, when things happen that you don't agree with, but nothing wrong has happened.
Club's sign players with associations with rival clubs that you don't like, but you live with it.
No-one's died, and, no-one's about to die due to e-cigs.
Lighten up, people.
