Definitely past it, shouldn't be close to getting paid for that sort of performance in the top Rugby competition in the world. Another blot on the long list of TS's failed signings...

| Quote Warrington Wolf="Warrington Wolf"Was thinking the same myself
. He will go down with the other flops who Smith has signed like, Solomona, Brett, Atkins, Myler, Atkins, Mathers, Higham, Ratchford, Hill et al.'"
Not really sure that the was necessary. There are a lot of parallels between Rauhihi and Asotasi, that's all, in terms of nationality, position and age, and their careers have some similarities. I'm not having a pop at Smith for signing this bloke, I just remember that Rauhihi came with a big rep and struggled to live up to it on a consistent basis. Having said that, when he was on it, he was bloody awesome.
Also not sure that Solomona and Mathers really merit a mention in a list of Smith's greatest hits.

| I loved watching Richie Mathers just for the passion he has for the game.

I was going to apologise for the but questioning Solomona's contribution to our upturn in form and Mathers organisation skills & effort at Wembley 09 & 10? Come on Worthing Wire, play the game.
Lets not fall out over a silly picture.

| Mathers was OK, he tried hard, won me a few bob when he scored first at Wembley, but he wasn't a GREAT signing - that Smith got Hodgson in to replace him says enough. Solomona I personally could take or leave, did some great stuff, had some shockers. But then I am

| Mathers should have got MoM at the first Leeds final in 2010, loved his enthusiasm and i think he was partly the reason our defence improved, not necessarily individually but he was very vocal at the back and the players responded to him, ok the occasional brain fart but gave his all and as I've said before, anyone that puts the shirt on and shows the passion i feel for the club, i'll always give an extra bit of leeway. Still has love for us and i'll always show my respect for him.

| Thought he was an important signing for us, did well as a full back joining the line in attack whereas before that our no.1 was Stuart Reardon. The style of our play was improved a bit and he did a great job before Hodge took it to the next level. Deserves massive respect for the try saving efforts in the 2010 final alone. There were at least 4 or 5, incredible effort.

| Whilst I take no pleasure Worthing Wire in admitting to be right about Mathers, I just don't see many coming on here to back you up. As stated he Improved us as a back unit and then Brett carried on with the boot. Let's not forget Tony Smith wanted him to stay.

| Mathers was an important signing at the time, he was what the squad needed as a likeable player and a reasonably steady influence as tony took over and was changing the environment here not saying he was key, but he was part of that transition.

| He's not [ithat[/i big for a prop. He's 5'11" and 106kg. In comparison Moz is 6'3" and Gaz Carvell is 123kg.

Carvell is 113kg, Morley is 104kg, so I think he is big enough.
