| I had the radio on last night, and Mssrs French and Rooney on Radio Manchester had this down as decapitation, and I feared the worst for the forthcoming disciplinary hearing.
I've just watched the sky+ of this match, and I've not seen ANYTHING illegal in this incident..
1) Bridge attempts to tackle the player, brings him up in the air (but not over the horizontal), and the player lands on the ground, but the tackle is NOT completed
2) Bridge then completes the tackle, with a forearm to the CHEST (fist not clenched).
3) Cue hysteria from ALL commentators and Bradford fans alike, due to them previously being "hard done to" by the officials.
Can anyone inform me where/when
a) anything illegal has happened in the above 3 instances
b) tackling hard in our game has been abolished. Kevin Tamati/Mike Nick or come to think of it, ANY tough tackling player, of ANY generation, of ANY team must have been "laughing their cobblers off" at the over-exageration over a hard tackle incident.
I've said this before. The 3 point game used to have a legend (Bill McLaren) commentate on their sport, and if that incident happened in his code, he'd've merely have said "little bit af argy-bargy there, but let's look back at that fantastic try scored a few minutes ago"....and that would have been it. Not with Eddie and Stevo, they want to play Judge Jury and Executioner for anything. They basically want a sanitised sport, which cannot happen in our game. Rough and tumble (that's all it was) and foul play, will always exist in a high contact sport.
Oh, and just before the usual suspects charge in, if it was player "A" for their team, on one of our players, doing the same thing as Bridge, I can assure you, I'd be saying the same thing.
RL, it's a tough man's game, let's not change it, simply because commentators have got "bees in their bonnets" over nothing.

It appears you are in the minority with your opinions, even the majority of Wire fans I've seen posting have said he was in the wrong. Dropping on a defenseless player whilst leading with your forearm/elbow is not 'tough play', it is a pointless cheap shot which is not needed in our sport.
If both players were stood upright and Bridge tackled in that manner, leading with his forearm/elbow then it would be a penalty, it makes no difference that Jeffries was lying on the floor.
The reason that the commentators and the majority of people watching will have had 'bees in their bonnets' over the incident, is because the challenge was dirty and reckless.

Do you write "forearm/elbow" because you don't know the difference between the two? It would appear so.

| I don't care if I'm in the minority....
just answer the question
where has Bridge broken the rules?
I've not seen it.
It was a hard tackle.
He did not lead with the elbow, so why have you included it in your arguement.
I'd just like to know, where in the rulebook, it says that it's illegal to hit someone with a forearm, in the chest? I await your reply with interest.

No not at all, people have written that he led with either the 'forearm' or 'elbow' in their interpretations of the incident, that is why I wrote it like that.

He "led" with his "elbow" - who saw that: Stevie Wonder?
I have watched the video and he drops on an un-tackled player with his foream into teh ball and chest - which part of this is a penalty in your opinion Bigchris? Have you watched the match on tv or just live?

Oh I'm sure that you don't care that you are in the minority...
I have already explained in my my previous post why the tackle should have been a penalty, you are just clutching at straws.

No I think Stevie Wonder was busy as touch judge.
I have already explained why I believe it was a penalty in my first post.

Silly me, I must be clutching at the straw of 'no offence was commited'. I ask again, did Bridge do anything illegal?.
Again, I await your reply
