Everyone is available at the right price.
Personally i'd like to see us have gone for Rangi Chase, he was coming to the end of his contract with Cas before he re-signed a new deal. Riley is good cover for Hodgson, we don't need a new full back as yet. Rhys Evans will be good cover for the centres and wings this year, Gareth O'Brien didn't look out of place on his debut so their is plenty of optimism with the cover at scrum half.
A combination of Chase at 6 and Briers at 7 would have been seriously X factor, Briers with his organisational skills, kicking and passing game complimented by Chase with his ability to open up any defence, a similar style to Benji Marshall where both do things that don't look possible.
Its just my own opinion but i don't think Ratchford is a player we desperately needed to sign.

Blustering in from sea,
With a rollocking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.
His face is weather beaten.
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.
He growls as he storms the country,
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.
The Autumn Wind is a raider,
Pillaging just for fun.
He'll knock you 'round and upside down,
And laugh when he's conquered and won.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47600.jpg |

Why makes you think that we need to replace Myler? I think he had a great seaosn last season and towards the end he really started to dictate play on a more regular basis.

Really, i didn't notice him in the Leeds game up and till he was caught offisde at the end. In the challenge cup quarter final against Wigan he had a big chance to to take control and lead us around the field due to us having Lee Briers missing through injury, again he was low key in that game.
They were our 2 biggest games of the season and he failed to show up in both.
If you like him as a player then thats fair enough, its a game of opinions. I know a half back pairing of Chase/Briers would be far more destructive than a halfback pairing of Briers/Myler.

How many others went missing against Leeds and Wigan as well? Monaghan was anonymous in these games and nobody brings that up.

Michael Monaghan wasn't fully fit against Leeds, he was basically playing with one good arm. I think it was the Hull game where he picked up the injury.
The likes of Lee Briers and Michael Monaghan (Lance Todd Trophy winners) have nothing to prove in big games, they are proven performers on the big stage with silverware at stake. Lee Briers and Michael Monaghan can't carry us all the time, what happens when one or both are missing ?
Correct it will need Richie Myler to step up and lead us around the pitch, he's failed to do that twice now when it really mattered both against Leeds inn the play offs and Wigan in the cup.

At home to Wigan he had a brilliant game. Pretty big game that. Seeing that nobody has agreed with you, says to me that you're the minority on this point. Like you say it's all about opinions though pal.

| There are some short memories on here. Anyone remember when Alan Langer was here and people were saying that Lee Briers wasn't consistant enough? There were several players brought in during the DVDV era with a view to replacing Briers because of an alleged lack of consistancy. I'm quite happy with Myler, no-one really performed in the Wigan Cup match and we didn't buy a centre to play at scrum half.

You are a bit out of line there, rob.
Wigan we were twenty points down before most of the team woke up and that leeds game was filled with people making very uncharacteristic errors (grix's pass to hall being a stinker)
You only seem to notice (or not notice) myler when it is convenient. He was leading in some of our biggest wins (wigan away being a great example) myler had a great season, will improve and certainly, doesn't need dropping!

| I'd have to agree with Rob Wire, he has been anonymous in the massive games, has only been noticeable when he's been finishing off moves in 50-60 point romps.
Wether Tony Smith is telling him to play like this, I dont know, but I seem to recall someone on here, earlier in the season, comparing him to Sean Edwards
atm, he's been disappointing, hopefully he will improve next season, but, as of yet, only Martin Offiah has got anything out of the deal.

| Im sorry but i'm struggling to see how some people think that a player who has been playing average for salford at centre , should be walking into our team at Scrum-half ?? As for the crititism of Myler , many of our players went missing in the games against Wigan and Leeds , not just Myler. IMO i think he's a great player who is still growing and i wouldn't be taking him out of the team. The game against france really showed how much he's matured.

Nothing up with having an opinion. You know me, I am all for free speech on here, it is jsut your opinion seems to be absed on very shaky evidence and it appears you are seriously exagerating any minor shortcomings in the development of Myler. It is incontestable that he has improved on last year.
Seen as you don't know what out of line means, I shall google it.
Uncalled for, improper; inappropriate. [...]
Not in agreement with general practice, as in Their prices are way out of line with other hotels. Both def. 1 and 2 are metaphoric expressions that transfer being out of alignment to various kinds of behavior.
out of one's line; not in one's line. Not in one's occupation or field of interest. For example, He offered a generous salary, but the work was out of her line, or I'd love to help, but telephone solicitation is not in my line. This usage alludes to line in the sense of “a business or occupation.” [Mid-1800s]

| Tony Smith, whose judgement I think is pretty spot on, has been delighted with Richie Myler this season so I don't think we need to worry to much about who will be our regular No 7 next season (barring injury of course).

| Think he (Myler) got MOM for the Knights today, so that's twice in a week so he seems to be 'bossing games' okay for the Knights. I reckon he'll be the next cab off the rank for the full England side.
He'd have been well in the running for my player of the season. For me, he was certainly the big improver anyhow. This time a year ago, I was worried for him. Now, I think he has the world at his feet if he keeps working hard.

| You're being quite harsh on him Rob by citing two poor team performances and expecting him to have dragged us through them. I can't actually really recall a situation when Briers has done that.
Do the people criticising Ratchford's defence remember the same comments about Myler? It's never been an issue I.M.O.
