As for the games, what about using the league positions two weeks before the Magic Weekend, ie First plays Second, Third plays Fourth etc. This year we would have had:

Wigan V Wire
Saints V Huddersfield
Bradford V Hull
Hull KR V Wakefield
Leeds V Crusaders
Cas V Salford
Catalans V London

These matches would likely be competitive and would have an impact on the league table. The Teams in theory should be quite evenly matched and inject a little spice into the weekend.

We could always stay at the Linton Travel Tavern.

It's not five star, but it's certainly competitive.

Great weekend in Edinborrow for me, much better than last year. The only downside was how empty the stadium looked, such a shame.

If the RFL persist with this weekend, Newcastle looks favourite on the suggestions I've seen on here so far. Certainly not Elland Road, that's for sure. Some six months or so after the Four Nations Final, I still get angry about the queue for the six, count 'em, six ladies toilets. Grr.

a lot of ladies were using the mens toilets when i was in them on a couple of occasions, however 6 toilets is very poor!

It's a shame that the new stadiums in Nottingham, Birmingham and Bristol haven't been built and have stayed at planning stages. All 3 cities would have been good options to take a weekend to.

Newcastle - Stadium is in the centre, there's lots to do away from the rugby and various options for places to stay, which might get more people to stay for the whole weekend. Even if people don't stay for the whole weekend there will be more people taking day trips due to it being easier to get to.

The weekend could also possibly be moved to the 2nd Spring bank holiday that would avoid clashes with some other events, including the football season.

Its far too easy to blame it on the "difficult economic climate", I dont think 52,000 is a success. What they need to do now is look at why fans havent gone to the magic weekend and see what they want changed. Money hasnt been the only reason fans havent gone, although it obviously is the main reason for others.

I agree. There was a worse economic limate in May 2009. I don't understand how he can claim a drop of 18% in attendances as a "slight dip" either.
