| We all know our six fingered neighbours are weird, but it does seem like they've decided to despise little old Leigh just for having the cheek to knock them out the cup last year. The same way they despise the ref who didn't gift them the final in 2019. I'm not saying they hold onto their grudges, but blimey they're bitter for such a successful lot.

We'll be playing this next. If he doesn't jump, he gets tackled around the waist. He jumps, and gets tackled on the thigh......Checkmate.

Your own fans loudly applauded/cheered/laughed when the player hobbled off injured on Friday. Take your double standards elsewhere.

| Quote: Cokey "Hang on
No, he doesn't. You're just refusing to see it for what it is because it's a Leigh player. He's very low, Mata'utia deliberately doesn't put his foot down, because he knows what Asiata is doing and takes his other foot off the floor and is falling by the time he makes contact. If he planted his leg in his normal stride he'd have had his leg badly damaged, likely broken.
You're obsessing over the height of the challenge. Whether it's an inch above the knee or an inch below the knee isn't going to change a thing. His head might hit the thigh, but his shoulder is right into the knee joint and there's no attempt to wrap the arms. The RFL even state it's not a genuine attempt at a tackle and is likely to cause injury. If he hits that with the studs in contact with the ground (As they would have been if he'd put his foot down), the knee is being destroyed. This isn't just me, look at Twitter, there are tons of genuine neutrals who agree it's incredibly dangerous. Paul Cooke, the former Hull favourite, is one, he isn't bitter about Saints losing to Leigh in the cup, he probably loved that. He needs to change his technique before he does something catestrophic. He's incredibly lucky Mata'utia isn't seriously injured.

If this is true they are certainly the dregs. I have my suspicions they are anyway, but this would confirm it.
The usual form is to clap an injured player off the field not jeer. These are sportsman risking serious injury.

If you're okay with people tackling like Asiata is then that doesn't reflect well on you. Mata'utia has only avoided a season ending injury by jumping to avoid it. The tackle is aimed at knee level and he's just thrown his whole weight through his leg. He's Mata'utia spotting him coming and jumping away from another major controvery and another player facing a major rehab, if not the end of their career.'"
This sounds like [iFuturecrime[/i to me. Lot's of projection in your statement. Surely the fact is the RFL Disciplinary have looked into what [iactually happened [/iand there is no charge resulting. Anything after that could be considered to be just whinging one didn't get the outcome one wanted.
Anyway maybe it was payback for this cheap late head shot by Mata'utia. 2m 55s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNYnrc4kjfA

Well, they definitely did so. Putting my rfl hat on, there was some mitigation ( ) because when he'd been sin binned earlier, he'd gestured to the crowd asking for 'more' as they jeered him off. So, I guess in their eyes he was fair game and asking for it when he was later injured, coupled with the fact he's public enemy no 1 in St Helens.

| Quote: Saddened! "The technique itself is banned. You aren't allowed to spear your bodyweight at the ball carriers legs, ban him for that and the clear intent. They acknowledge the intent and the danger to the ball carrier and still decide to let him off. Even if they decide they can't ban him due to sticking religiously to the framework, just issue him a warning not to tackle like that. The puerile, childish reponses from the usual suspects on here just show how bitter some of you are towards Saints. It's hilarious when it's a Saints player out of the game for 9 months+ and spending 4 months struggling to walk, with no date for a return still. If it's Hayes' knee he points backwards or Ashton's or Lindop's career he ends? I suspect you won't find it as funny then.
The fact he's attempting to do it again is bad enough, why should they wait until he's disabled someone or ruined a second career before acting? Given the context as well, his first involvement against Saints since he injured four players in one game with it, and he goes straight for the knee of another player? It's odd that it's allowed in an age where the RFL is supposedly working to improve player welfare. Your opinions on it would do a 180 very quickly if it wasn't Saints, or if it was Saints tackling like that.'"
The key to this is where the contact was made, that will influence the number of games a player receives. A high tackle that hits the shoulder first will get less games than one which contacts the head directly.
The technique is banned for contact below the knee, If he injured a Warrington player with a tackle that was on or below the knee I would agree I’d be angry. Fact is he hit above the knee. I totally agree a tackle that endangers the knee joint should be taken out of the game - and it’s been outlawed. If there are injuries occurring from similar tackles where contact is ‘just above the knee’ then they should review the guidelines again.
At no point would I think it’s hilarious any player was out of the game for any period of time.
He was warned, he was given an in game yellow and a grade A - which I think impacts future suspensions. If he carries on tackling like that he’s going to cop a long ban, but until he does there isn’t much that can be done other than the grade A he was given.

| There is no need for dangerous play of any kind & the RFL should be ruthless in policing what goes on on the pitch.
