Quote: karetaker "You mean like Saints have been saying about Cunningham all year or the goons wanting Wane out, so we are in the CC final and for me we will be in the 4 come the end of the 8's but this obviously not good enough for you, so who do you want to replace him with, I stand by my statement.'"

He has had 8 years at the club, and hasn't won a grand final. And we don't look like winning one this year, as soon as Wigan get some of their 7 injured players back, they will be to much for us, thats if a mediocre Saints team doesn't beat us first. The trophies this season are there for the taking, but we are just not well coached enough, or we haven't recruited well enough to dominate. Our backline look like they have never played on the same pitch before and we are at the business end of the season.

No getting to the CC final after beating no one of note, and finishing in the top 4 isn't good enough after the huge investment in the club.

If we finish this season trophyless it is time for him to go, but obviously he won't be leaving.

Quote: Wires71 "Anyone who expected a Wire win tonight has not been watching us for long enough. Our pack was light weight and lacked aggression. Despite Sim's huff and puff, no menace. God only knows how we will miss Ben Westwood. Cooper will be a welcome return.

The biggest problem is the 3/4 they are slow and offer little threat. These need replacing as they would not trouble a Saints, Wigan or Hull 17.

Toby King
Rhys Evans
Matt Russel (at wing)

Whilst we are at it, Wilde. Far too small.

We haven't got the team to win the SL this season I don't feel. If we win at Wembley you can forget it.'"

Good post. If it's on offer, I'll take a wembley win over a GF appearance.

TS has little sense of balance. Been on this agenda all year. Pack too light and he has little idea of a balanced 3/4 line.

Quote: morleys_deckchair "We now have no credible wingers... and just Ryan Atkins as a credible centre... its a good job we just haven't spent over 100k on a winger eh?

Ratchford at FB though..... he is utterly hopeless against half decent opposition.... twice he ran past people in the process of putting the ball down, waving his arms around like he was trying to flag a bus down (lets not talk about the charlie chaplin knock on near our line)... he is to blame for 3 tries tonight... and ultimately to blame for the defeat... its ok though, as sometimes he does something decent.'"

Pretty much "nail on the head" there, deckchair.

The blame for this, lays firrmly with Smith. We have proven try scorers in Penny and Lineham, yet they can't get a game, and he plays non wingers, as wingers. Baffling.
As for Ratchford, he was poor tonight, but he suffers from his utility value.
When will coaches get some balls, and drop players, instead of playing "names" just so they"get a game". As a nation, we saw this only a few weeks ago in the Euros. Wayne Rooney, FFS.

me and you have become alarmingly close in our assessment of this tenure ducky.... which probably speaks volumes.

Quote: jj86 "Some ridiculous overreactions on here tonight. Remember the team had 4 days to prepare for this game compared with 2 weeks for Saints and we only narrowly got beaten! All is not lost!'"

By the worst Saints side for at least 15-20 years.

If that was Hull or Wigan, they would have stuck 50 on Saints tonight, not been beaten by 2 points. But the difference with Warrington is that when we come against a really poor side, we end up sinking to that level ourselves.

Regardless of whether we had 5 days rest, and they had 2 weeks rest, Saints were far from the "Entertainers" tonight and were there for the taking, and once again, we didn't take it.

I wasn't confident before the game, so the result isn't a surprise to me, however I'm very disappointed in the way the result happened. We should have won that game, but our inability to step it up against a poor team cost us, just like it has done several times this season.

We were certainly off tonight, but I really can't see where the idea that Hull or Wigan would have put 50 points on Saints comes from. Regardless of their record this season I saw their line-up and thought it looked very dangerous.

Some people really take Saints defeats waaaay over the top. To say Wigan would have put 50 on them....how did they get on the other week? Oh that's right, they got beat by saints. I think we have a few issues to address, but we're really not a million miles off.

Genuine question: do these sort of posts make people feel any better in defeat?

Think your all been a bit hard on your team, saints are in great form with a week extra rest, whats the bet we struggle tonight I'm more concerned about the way Wigan get an easy fixtures against a team decimated with injures and who played last week great planning that for Wigan
Are the fixtures committee all ex Wigan players like the disciplinary committee? why not to be fair, give us semi finalist a game against each other so its not unfair to any team, Wigan came out of this smelling of roses as normal, after the bruising battle we had with them last week you would of stuck 40 past them, you'll be back don't be surprised if we slip up as well but Wigan will beat Waky they looked busted

He has done nothing. That's why he is not picked.

Nothing like a narrow defeat against one of the league's better teams to provoke a total overreaction among our fans. Yes, I thought we were very poor. We had opportunity after opportunity and just seemed to waste them as we have on a number of occasions this year. For me Ratch isn't a full back, Russell isn't a winger and Kevin Penny is basically Brian Bevan compared to what was on the wing last night. The answer is quite simple for me and I wonder if TS doesn't want to make a tough call rather than leave out an easy target (who has had an excellent season by the way).

To have people calling for TS to leave (albeit only one I think) and saying that we won't win anything is nuts. Nearly every single time we lose any game people say this - it's bizarre!

We played exactly the same against Wigan in our last game and won 23 - 4. You came up against a smarter side and it was Gidley and Sandow who were poor and not about sinking levels, you always play scared against Saints at your place.

100% this, I couldn't believe some of the tripe I was reading last night, I hate losing as much as anyone but last night was well OTT, we are by no means out of the play offs I don't care we're we come as long as it's in the four. If your in you still have a chance.

I think we were very unlucky not to win last night. I didn't expect us to play much better than we did after 5 day turn around etc....and Saints won more on luck not skill. A 2 point penalty for a push might not have been given by another ref. Evans try had we not been on sky would have been a winner as it was sent up as one.
There's a curse at HJ when we play Saints, they always get the rub of the green.
