Wigan Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan
It was announced on Tuesday that Lee Mossop and Gareth Hock will move to Australia to join Parramatta Eels at the end of the year.

"And at least 50% of them will come back to Wigan."

He was 100% wrong then.

Quote: Paul Youane "What are you on about? I said the duty of care to the players was in relation to playing too much Super League rugby in the forwards at a young age.

Now would any of the Wigan fans posting on here care to respond to the question I posed three pages ago

But that's exactly the point. There is no evidence that you can provide (outside of your own unsubstantiated bias) that they do. Of the instances you mentioned, only Prescott could even come close to your description and he had injury problems throughout his carreer! Some players are like that. Rogues has already answered that the rest of your examples are wrong and you still haven't shown any examples of how Warrington don't do what you accuse Wigan of! In fact, I'd be very surprised if you could. All teams play their young props when they perceive them to be ready (Walmsley at Saints, Crosby at Wigan for example). In both instances they've been brought in slowly, usually first from the bench. We, as a club have shown duty of care in this way, if that's what you want to call it, with every youngster who's ever played for us. To be honest, I don't know of any club that doesn't. On occasion we've played players when injured. Equally I can say I don't know of any club that doesn't. If you're looking at making a point over how young players are introduced to the game then it doesn't do it justice by singling out a club just to score points. All clubs follow very similar lines. If you think the approach is wrong then feel free to say so but let's do it in an even handed way hey?

Christ another Wigan fan coming on here and not even answering the question that has been asked.

FYI Mossop was the example that I feel has suffered by playing too much Super League rugby at a young age. You can look and see that I referred to Super League Clubs having a duty of care to their young players, with Mossop being the player under discussion obviously focus is on Wigan. For other examples you could look at what the Wigan coach said about Bateman when Wigan signed him and him being let down by his previous club, you could also look at what he said about Burke playing more games than he should of during his first season. Do you think Shaun Wane was wrong?

Alex Walmsley? Wasn't he 23 before he made his debut in Super League. I reckon he will have a decent career into his 30's.

May get shot down with this it is off season so excuse me.
The way I look at it is that once Warrington start producing and relying on the amount of talent through their own youth structure as Wigan, who have and continue to do so, you will find that a Paul Prescot situation turns up. I do hope you continue down this path as it will be good for RL. Injuries are part of the game, I would guess the more top level players you produce would lead to an higher level of names that you can mention who get injured?
Just going off Paul wood I think he had a bad run with injuries (you will know more than me) Would say four or so seasons he was at the top of his game but has tailed off since maybe not enough care?or as I think a % of players will get injured playing rugby. Morley played a lot from a young age and he was still strong three seasons back and you could say at a higher level with his NRL stint.

Imo 2013 was the best season Wood has ever played in his career, including when he played for GB.
Last season however, he was pretty much pants whenever he did get a game.

When Prescott was playing for Wigan, there were the following non-Wigan products playing for Wigan: Gleeson Carmont Richards Deacon Leuluai Fielden McIlorum Coley Riddell Palleaaesina Finch Lima Hoffman Mossop. Yes there were also five or six Wigan products too, but around those years it was nothing like Wigan's last few years. You make it out to be like Wigan only ever field sides of 10+ Wigan products who Wigan "rely" on as the core of their team.

There are about the same amount of Warrington products playing for Wire now as there were Wigan products playing for Wigan when Prescott was a Wigan player.

I'm not having a go here, It's great to see Warringtons junior side make a final. Great for you and RL in general! I think Wigan got on to that a few years back and I'm sure that when you have had a few years of bringing players through at the same level that you will have examples of players who look nailed on for the top, who either don't make it at your own club or careers end or stagnate. Joe Mellor looked a top prospect at junior level and while he's a SL player I think he could have been much more, if not for a bad injury. That's just an example no lack of care just luck and the way players bodies are different. Leeds played Morley from a young age he's played at the very top for a long time don't think he's been cared for he's just tough has anyone could be.

You've mentioned Morley there, what you have to remember with Morley that when he was a kid coming through it was at the start of superleague nearly twenty years ago when it was the transition of part to full time, for everyone, so his introduction for the first three years he wasn't getting the car crash treatment props are having to deal with these days.

Yes my point is.... I think you will find many players who have come through youth systems in that time who have either not made it or called time on their careers not many will have had a harder, tougher or longer career at the very top. His he lucky, better put together or cared for? I would say it's a mixture of the first two he's probably look after himself very well also off the field. I used Morley has he's played for you and while I have done some moaning at him while watching him play against Wigan in my time he's been a one of the very best I've seen.

Ben Harrison played more 1st team games under the age of 21 than either Prescott, Mossop, Tuson or Burke.

Injured in a wrestling session against someone over 4 stone heavier than him... twisted round and dumped on his back... really bad leg injury that he has never really recovered properly from.

As 'madge' called it.. roadkill achieved.
