I guess you never went in the Pepperhill when Des was the landlord then.

I've never said Terry was a saint? I have a soft spot for him, he was my favourite player when i started watchin rugby in 2001 and theres always been something there for him. i was gutted when he took drugs, devastated he died, but it was right he was banned for 2 years. dont think they should be banned permanently but thats my personal opinion

The outpouring of grief since Newton took the coward's way out has been sickening. He was a very good player, as I said at the time he was a pantomime villain, but he was still a thug and a cheat who rather than sort out his issues in a way best for his family hung himself so his family & children would see his body. In calling him a saint my tongue was firmly in my cheek with a large sense of reality - all the girls I saw at OT wearing "do it for Terry" on the t-shirts need to take a long hard look at what he actually was & did.

I detest Liverpool, and a lot of what they stand for, but have to ask yerself, what is more impressive, X amount of Koppites at an away game belting out 'poor scouser tommy' for example, or the cool kats in the barmeh armeh singing some generic 'Soccer AM type' song? Sporting their replica's over their Henleys Hooded tops?
I havent been to watch Liverpool for 3 season now mainly because its crap, the entertainments garbage, the prices are a joke and I'm not having some moaning bleedin Scouser pretending he's some feckin know it all over qualified badged up Coach when he's just a dick from toxteth.... football sucks a dogs nads
I'd never consider stopping watching Warrington.....Ever...
your post basically says that football fans sing songs better and wear nice clothes while they are doing it...... sounds like feckin Sunday school to me pal
The day singing and Chanting and fashion sense is more interesting than the sport of Rugby League itself I'll stop going. fortunatley that will never happen. that happened in Football years ago....

Footballs has always had better songs and chants than Rugby but both have deteriorated over the years to a generic mush bar a few exceptions.
There isn't much difference between a football crowd and a rugby crowd. You talk about someone sat next to you at the football talking cr@p, the same applies at the Rugby. You here so much rubbish stood at the Rugby, so many people think they know the game but they clearly don't. One woman behind me at the Huddersfield game was so bad she was told at least a dozen times by different people to shut up (not that she listened), she was shouting that much nonsense.
As for giving up going for not being entertained. You can't honestly say that watching Warrington over the last 25 years (that's how long I've been going) has been easy on the eye, except for the last few of years with a sprinkle of other seasons and the odd games here and there. But I don't go the matches to be entertained, I go to watch a game of Rugby (or football) and support my club, through thick and thin, win, lose or draw (probably why I'd never boo either).

it may be sickening for you but he was loved at Wigan by a hell of a lot of people. not for the things he did that classed him as a "thug" or a "cheat" but for the rugby he played and the way he always gave at least 110% for Wigan. thats why people had "do it for Terry" on their tops. plus the fact he never actually won a GF so they thought it would be a fitting tribute to him - each to their own.
Terry's issues were known by nobody but himself, but he obviously couldn't find a way to sort them or he would still be here. i dont know where or why he hung himself, but I as a Wiganer find it upsetting it happened. he was a Wigan lad and Wiganers stood by him. Am i wrong in thinking if it had been an ex Warrington player you would be the same or would you disown him?

hanged himself, pictures are hung, people are hanged
people have different perceptions of suicide all of which are not wrong, just different, just as different people have different perceptions of drug use in sport.
both sides of the debate have valid arguements and provoke emotions in people who do share the beliefs of the other. M.P. you have been a little insensitive
especially for a christian! but W.L he is entitled to an opinion even if it does differ from yours!
WAS THAT PATRONISING ENOUGH?

Christian doctrine teaches that as only God has the ability ultimately to create life, so only He has the ability/right to take life away. Hence suicide has been seen alongside murder as a mortal sin, and for a long time those who murdered or committed suicide were not buried in consecrated ground but often at crossroads (also the traditional location of gibbets), not entirely sure why but something to do with confusing the Devil who came for their souls I think... Not necessarily a thought I agree with fully, although I believe in principle that no human has the right to take away a human life be it their own or anothers' - I tend to subscribe to the belief that people who commit suicide mentally damage & hurt those they leave behind a damn site more than they were themselves...
WL I have nothing but sympathy for Newton's friends & family. I have nothing like that for him having taken his own life, in fact considerably less than when he was making strides in dealing with the death of his sister, his drugs ban etc... Sorry if my opinions upset you but they are mine & I find the outpouring of public grief over public figures just as nauseating. BTW, Neil Kenyon is the only player associated with Warrington I can recall who took his own life - and my opinions of him for doing that are just as strong as they are for Newton...
