You are being far too harsh on Jamie Foster tbh.
I must admit I'd written him off after the Salford game on Sky. He is tiny and was clinically exposed defensively in that game. His performance was shocking in that game.
But since then he has performed brilliantly. His defensive performances have been fantastic, stopping all the big name wingers he came up against from doing anything. Look at how he played in the win at the DW Stadium against Wigan. They thought he might be susceptible to the high kicks, but he swallowed them all including a couple of crucial ones late on that won us the game.
Matt Gidley has had an awful season. He's been anonymous ever since he signed his final contract. i don't think we've seen a flick pass at all this year. Still a solid player, but it's not like he's laying oodles of easy chances on for Foster.

Interesting D.D. that you use St Helens trophy count against a rival team as part of your signature but no sign of a Man City trophy count against another football teams. Interesting.'"
It's not interesting at all, City v Everton from the commencement of Saints great run of victories over Wire would be 0-0. That's more boring than Roberto Mancini and David Moyes tactics put together.

| Interesting this Foster bashing.
I have to admit, after Potter threw him and Lomax together at Salford and they slashed us to pieces down that wing, my opinion was that he would never make it in a million years. He looked a broken man.
Since then, he as come in and proved us all wrong with a series of excellent performances. He was our man of the match in the semi-final against Leeds and his defensive work in running the ball out, positional play and fielding have been excellent.
Not the most gifted attacker I will give you that but most of us would certainly have him in our starting line up on Saturday and not just for goalkicking reasons.
As for playing outside the best centre in the league, Gidley has done sod all since about February and is well worthy of the retirement home if truth be known.
PS I have just noticed Saddened said exactly the same more or less and I can honestly say I wrote this without seeing it first.

Why don't you compare Wigan to St Helens just out of interest.
Not a fan of Mancini then? That the general consensus by the fans? He be likely to go?
Moyes' tactics shouldn't be snarled at. Makes us very hard to beat, just not pretty to watch at home versus the lesser sides. Very rarely put anyone to the sword despite having arguably two of the most top ten creative midfielders in the Prem.

I agree with this Foster is a good solid player and a great goal kicker but attacking wise can only score easy try's

Take it being a saints fan you don't watch warrington much then? Riley has been good all season, a few silly mistakes from time to time but like foster the lad's still young and learning his trade. I would rather have Riley over foster at this moment in time as i think that Riley offers more defensively.

Riley doesn't offer more defensively though. They both seem pretty solid, Foster if anything is less prone to howlers with collecting kicks.
Riley is vastly better in attack though. His try at Bradford is something we've not seen anything of from Foster.

| Quote: Yankee "Awful defensively. Salford had a field day against him. That's where we went wrong not targeting him. He offers little in attack and benefits from playing outside of the best centre in the competition.'"
That was a one-off and seems to have been the making of him.
You didn't target him because (a) he has been fantastic under the bomb and (b) he can tackle. He isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and, like Riley for instance, when he gets bashed up (as he does because of his size), he just gets back up and carries on.
I don't know where the poster who claims he whinges at the ref gets that from. I've been watching him for weeks now and I've yet to see him whinge.
He has extremely good positional sense, which is very valuable in the backline.
He kicks very well of course - superbly on Friday night.
He isn't slow. I don't think he could outpace Riley over a stretch but he has a useful bit of acceleration which is definitely a bonus for Saints, given we are mostly a bunch of tortoises.
Since this is his debut season and he hasn't been playing for the whole of it due to being introduced at about the halfway mark, I think he has made tremendous progress - probably the fastest progress of all our young players - and is showing real potential. Hopefully our next coach will continue with him as our first choice winger and develop his attacking game.

get away with yourself ...he spends almost the entire game with both arms stretched out to the side flapping around.
In fact i'm going to write to Sky and ask that when they put players height and weight in the on-screen graphics when they do Foster they should include his "wingspan"

| I'm not sure how you can be slating Jamie Foster. Only a couple of seasons ago your saviour was Kevin Penny, all he could do was run fast. He literally couldn't do anything else. Oh he could jump a bit too.

I know, awful finisher. They were all down to his speed, not like he scored a shed load against Saints either. His defence was terrible though.

| I think Foster has to be the biggest improver in SL. He will go well next season.
