| really decent performanc eoverall. apart from one mistake we let no trys in.
Great works from widdop who switched it up (running the last, chip over on the second, taking the line on) so when he had the ball close they hesitated around him. The backs had space due to a lot of hard yards from Hill, & hughes.
Sadly our potent left side stil can't get Charnley a score and he may be the one to miss out when players come back. If austin comes on from the bench that leaves no room there for Clarke or Walker for me which makes me suck my teeth a bit.
I'd agree to keep the same team with Inglis on the bench to come on right centre if the game is in the bag.

| At the start I will be honest I thought we were going to get taken to the cleaners.
To me the players were thinking "Run to the line, then I will look for someone to tell me how to cross that barrier because I don't know how to".
Then eventually we managed to get some points but again it wasn't down to the "Team" it was again "Individual Spark" there was no one on the Field who was taking control and calling out plays and getting the attack going for the whole game.
Even though we got the win, it was a really poor team performance and only down to some "Individual Sparks" that we managed to get that win.
Catalan looked really good at the start, but then I think the heat and the size of the players caused them to hit a wall at around the 35 minutes and from there it was downhill for them they just didn't to me look like they were going to get back in to the game fully.
I honestly think there is something going on behind the scenes because that bunch of players should be playing 100% better than they are, it feels to me like they are intentionally playing poor to get Price out sooner than the end of the season, I just don't think any of them have any interest in playing whilst he is there other than Mamo, Ashton, Thewlis, King and Davis. The rest just look like they are turning up to play the minutes to get paid and don't care what happens win or lose they are getting paid.
I don't have much hope for the HKR game, I honestly think it is going to be a HKR win by 18 to 6.

I'll be honest mate if I was you I'd just find something else to do for enjoyment because you're never going to be happy watching Warrington.

Really disagree with your analysis of the game yesterday.
Catalans are a good team, you do know that don't you? You're suggesting we had a poor team performance and yet kept Catalans (in an away fixture) to a penalty and a very fortunate try off the back of an individual error by one of our team?
Even when we weren't particularly coherent at the start of the match you could tell by the chase of kicks and the line speed that the lads were trying hard, the effort was there right through, we settled down after we got the score from some Clark magic and we controlled it well. I thought our control of territory, set completion, work in defence, carries on our own set by our pack were all brilliant. As well as the reads to put pressure on the Catalans attack, such as the Mamo interception. Although the early power plays didn't work for those particular sets they did show a varied play and give the opposition wingers something to think about rather than them pushing deep to cover a high bomb, which in turn left the fullback covering more ground giving Ratchford a bigger target on the final set kicks. 5 drives and a bomb makes it very, very easy for the opposition defence.
The lads you mentioned played well for sure but Mulhern, Widdop and Darryl Clark were our best yesterday and Ratchford and Currie deserve a mention too.
I've been critical as much as anyone and felt the season is a write off if we kept price, credit where its due that was a top performance yesterday from 55 minutes onwards. If we pay like that for the rest of the season (I'm not holding my breath) then there is cause for optimism.

| After the first 10 minutes (because I missed it!) I thought the team did a very good job, albeit we're still some way off offensively.
Defence was very good and the tactics to handle Tompkins were spot on
Thought Hill, Coops and Mulhern gained good meters (particularly in the tackle) and the teams overall fitness was very good.
Hughes and Davis played well and Currie had a great game.
Nevertheless we needed some individual brilliance from Daryl to turn it our way, and we simply can't rely on that week after week.
The King try was off the cuff (Great by Mamo to keep it alive and a good kick from Widdop), the Mamo interception was a little lucky in my view (albeit maybe it was due to tactics of getting the outside backs up and in their line quickly) and the last try was off a fluffed kick from Ratchford.
One step forward, Rome wasn't built in a day and all that.
Whatever the real reason for Austin not playing it's good to show we can win in different circumstances.

| I think Damienc was watching a different game to most on this forum...each player gave their all for the team and except for one mistake resulting in a walkover try every man gave everything against a team which has not lost this season. And lets not forget Catalan were on their own ground in S France conditions.
Not enough credit has been given to the coaches too. The game plan of shutting down Tomkins was extremely successful, he was stopped every time he had the call preventing any attacking moves from developing. Warrington made it look easy which other teams will probably use when they look at the video before their next game with Catalan. This should be a worry for Waney who seems to have settled on Tomkins as fb for the international team.
So yes the players deserve credit, but unpopular I know, credit where credit is due, so did Pricey and his team. Just keep it up. All of you!

| Wire teams of many different hues have had a knack of doing a number on Tomkins, all the way back to Cullen. Didn't work in the 2018 Grand Final unfortunately (if he played in that one, I think that's the one I'm thinking of, maybe not).

| There were still some issues despite victory, undoubtedly.
We still looked very tame in the opposition 20, we gave away far too many penalties and set restarts in the first half hour but we settled down and ran the game for the last hour.
There was nothing lucky about Widdops kick, and.Mamos intercept was brave and assured - a split second hesitation and they may well have scored in that corner. Similarly, yes Clarke's break was a moment of individual brilliance but so what, thats what I want to see and Ben Currie finished it off superbly given Tom Davis was in pursuit.
I've given up any expectation of free flowing, off the cuff rugby that showcases the like of Widdop, Currie, King and Clarke until Powell arrives. Until then gutsy and committed winning rugby will do.

Agree with all of that. It’s a brilliant win to go over there in the South of France a notoriously hard place to go and get a win. Defence was outstanding and I’m taking nothing away from the effort but I fear the individual brilliance in attack papered over some of the cracks in our attack.

There was nothing wrong with the attitude or commitment. To go the South of France travelling there and back in the same day I’m at a loss as to what you were expecting. FFS we nilled them the second half!

| I’m all for “individual brilliance” especially where there isn’t just one individual displaying it. It means that we can put doubt in the mind of the opposition they can’t afford to target just one player.

| So pleased for Ben C - he looked really quick talking his try, reminding me of the CC final try where he went down the wing to score against Hull.
After all he's been through It's great to see him playing well and running quickly.
I'm sure he must be in a happy frame of mind.

Ben Currie until his injury was the fastest player at Warrington. He doesn’t seem along way off that now either. He has a very deceiving long stride.
