bring back the old great Britain shirt and i agree..... i know its nice to experiment and have 'British teams'... but when they did away with GB team, they did away with the pinnacle for a player.... Nothing we have anymore even gets close to resembling the GB team down under.
Bring it back, put a lion on everyone's chest.... even have british coal on the front.

| I believe that the RLIF and other RL associations turn a blind eye to players "swopping" nationalities as it helps spread talent across more teams for a world cup. However, it only makes the competition more competitive to a certain degree, as there's only three teams capable of making a final.

| My understanding is you can only play for one 'tier one' team, being Australia, England (Presumably GB) and New Zealand..
All the others are tier two, hence why you see a lot of South Sea Islanders play for Tonga, Fiji or Samoa before and after NZ.
I don't believe Austin could ever play for Australia if/when he plays for England, and obviously he's represented Portugal

Did they change the rule after Tony Carroll then?

| The irony here of people saying you can play for England and GB, almost as if you can love two entities.
I was born in Wales with a Welsh mother. Raised in England (Warrington) with an English father.
What box should I tick?

Quite simple. You pick either England or Wales, AND IT STAYS THAT WAY, until the end of your career. SHOULD the RFL chose to resurrect the GB brand, the Home Nations entity would be [iput on hold[/i, and you automatically become eligible for a GB Jersey. Not difficult, is it? You're causing an issue where the wouldn't be one.

Disagree, there's no issue if you're free with choice...you put put a restraint in then you have an issue.

Unfortunately, life has restraints. You have to make decisions in life. Too much me, me, me, I want everything, life's not fair, attitude, in today's society.

The easy way to answer the question is, if England play Wales, who would you support? It might be a different answer in rugby to football, which is fair enough. Lots of British-born people with Pakistani/Indian parents support England in football but Pakistan / India in cricket. If they've got in to football with their friends at school who all support England, but got in to cricket with their family who have always supported their country of origin, its natural to have that kind of separated identity.
It's reasonable to play for two countries if one is a Home Nation and the other is GB. To me that's just like an Aussie playing State of Origin for NSW/Qld and then Australia. I would like them to bring back GB for Test series - can keep the Home Nations for international tournaments. Those two concepts can co-exist. I think the reason they rebranded GB to England was because of applying for Sport England funding. Now, over the next decade we might see that Scotland leaves GB and it becomes just England & Wales, but from a rugby league perspective I don't think that makes much difference as most of the non-England players in GB were traditionally Welsh anyway.

For what bizarre reason should someone have to choose one? Like the lad above, he’s as Welsh as he is English, so why should he limit himself to one? What’s he actual reason to do so?
