Quote: The All New Chester Wire "No, but then again neither are Crosby, Clubb, Flower, Mossop, Tautai and Wigan haven't done badly in the last three years.'"

Mossop and Tautai have been pretty poor to be honest, but have backed up well on occasions. The rise of Crosby, Clubb and Flower is down to Wane instilling the win at all costs mentality and making them believe they are invincible. He did it with Smith, Green, Sarginson and Williams. Our coach doesn't appear to be able to do that with our players hence the difference in trophy cabinets.

We are in dire need of a quality prop to add to the current recruitment!

Quote: Fantastic Mr Catpiss "good props?

Harrison is reportedly out for the first part of the season.

We still dont know what we're getting with Dodds yet.

Bevans is coming back from a pretty bad injury, and King is a kid who's more of a backrower.

Its hardly morley, carvell, chillyand paul wood, with harrison and cooper in the background.'"

Dodds is a decent powerful interchange prop for a decent NRL team. Therefore he will be one of the best props in SL.

Warrington rugby league club making a mockery of the sport by making it look like rugby league clubs are well run and have money to spend.

So what if we've spent £300k on two internationals under 25.....

Hull have that money now. .so its still in the English game as are those two players.. Let's see what Hull do with that money eh ?

Quote: fez1 "We're certainly spalshing the cash, and if it doesn't work than time will have run out for our coaches. (By 'work' I don't necessarily mean winning a trophy, but that would be a good start).
For those who think we can spend our way out of trouble - sorry but that's not how it works for me. We need to be solvent and fund our recruitment from our means - not from a rich sugar daddy. That's not the way to run a business, and this is a business albeit in the RL arena'"

Well it's kind of exactly how many businesses run to grow and establish themselves. Speculate to accumulate. Take the chance to spend big and then sustain from there. Plus we are already a profitable business and aren't worried about money in the bank before you even factor in the owner.

Not an international but we've also got Jack Hughes and another international, Darryl Clark from the year before.

Of all the things I worry about regarding The Wire, our financial situation is not one of them - in the slightest.

Seems the club are damned if they do and damned if they don't at least in some eyes. To my mind it shows the club weren't any happier with last season than the rest of us and have decided to do something about it. Time will tell if they got it right.

Well, my hesitency is purely on lack of knowledge of him, from what i've read on here, and other people watching the nrl since we announced his signature, he seems like a defensive prop, rather than a go forward type, which is pretty good since we need to toughen up there, but arguably its overall numbers that concern me. He's number 3 in a rotation where we worked 1 and 2 to death, there's an injury ? over number 4 in harrison, one over number 5 in Evans and a kid in king.

To go back to the wigan props, crosby is the youngest and probably biggest out of the lot who's played more and more minutes over the year, the rest have been consistantly fit so far, but also backed up by Wigans 3/4 line doing extra work for them, so they've not been over worked due to style of play.

We were a prop short after woody leaving last pre season and IMO we're still a prop short now.

This season Smith has bemoaned the lack of option takers hence the early announcement of Gidley, when Sandow arrived responsibility fell squarely on his shoulders as there was no one else, next season Sandow will have Gidley and Westerman sharing options with some great players outside to take up Smiths "play it as you see it" mantra.

£150.000 is no great shakes if you say it slowly, I hope we can fit in another prop though.

Hull are maxed out on overseas players though Michaels, Fonua, Tuimavave, Paleaaesina, Manu, Pritchard, Minichiello and Talanoa. Too many IMO it should be three or four max.

Two good non quota players that will undoubtedly improve the squad. Couldn't care less how much we've paid. Gidley will guide this team round nicely.

My comments about splashing the cash were linked to a mentality that we could rely on a 'sugar daddy' or continual inputs of cash or 'soft loans / sponsorship' from directors (new or exisiting).

If we are making good profits then great - and I guess that's what Drapers job is linked to rather than the minutiae of the first team.

So who should they have signed Lord Lefty, and how much should they have paid?
