Btw . 2 good games

True, leeds was very good. Hull part one quite good, Hull part two was pretty poor to be fair.
But he was still a class act and you couldn't criticise his work ethic.

| As for Langer, our standing in the game at the time in terms of silverware, status and profile was such that we were probably blinded by the fact that we had a superstar playing in the P&B. Same could be said for Andrew Gee, a prop of undeniable quality, who never really did it for me.
The difference is now, and this is a burden all the players have to bear not just Roy, is that the profile, standing, and achievements of the club have changed vastly and the expectations of the fans have accordingly.

1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

| I like the look of Roy Asotasi and think the "uninterested" criticism is unwarranted. He gets through the defensive line when running the ball in, gets quick play the balls, gets through a number of tackles and can put a shot on.

| Well I reckon Asotasi has got around 6 games to show his intent. By that time, Woody will be well and truly back in the groove, and he risks swapping a starting spot with the bench.

| Harrison coming back who plays more like a prop will also be a challenge.

I agree with the "first year syndrome" comment, is a pure cop out. There is nothing to stop these guys going on the field and ripping it up other than their mindset. A twenty year old relative newcomer at this level you could cut some slack, but a guy of this stature nah, he's having a holiday pure and simple.'"
First year syndrome is something you would expect from a guy like Chris Hill coming from Leigh. Been playing semi-pro, first year at SL level you would expect a period of adjustment and cut him some slack.
But Hill was a top prop in SL from the start.
I don't think that Asotasi has come here to coast about, he's probably just not the player he was. If he'd stayed in the NRL he would probably be the same as he was now. And maybe had we signed him a few years ago he would have been the top prop in SL.
It all reminds me of Rauhihi. He was not a bad player either although he got a bad rep. He was actually overall quite good compared to other SL props. But we were expecting something else based on his rep of being the top prop in NRL a couple of years before he joined us. We just got a version a bit older and not as effective.

| Quote: BOBBIE_IS_SUPERMAN "What about langer ? Now there was a guy who probably played at 70% for us. As shown when he went home to play state of origin and ripped it up.. Yet quite clearly here on holiday is regarded as a warrington legend. However we never actually won anything with him in our side ...
(Ps yes I did submit an anti Langer post so I await to be sent into the doghouse with Roy)'"
When Langer was here there were always stories of him, Gee and Renouf getting wasted before games and I don't think he ever really dreamed of wearing the primrose and blue, but in a SL that was at the time quite poor, Langer was head and shoulders the best halfback, and even if he was playing 70% he did tear teams up. We were always dangerous in the last third of the pitch because SL defences couldn't stop him, and until he quit shortly before the end of his second season when DVDV got pushed out, he was fit and played every week.
So Langer got his reputation as a legend because he played very good rugby in the primrose and blue.
